XJS V12 No 4 Injector not switching.
Hi,
Can anyone help :-
I have a misfire on no4 cyl.
Disconnected injector 2 way connector fitted a Noid (a test lamp bulb that goes across the two wire )...in place of the injector.
Start car up Noid lamp did not come on. Connected up voltmeter and tested supply voltage to injector connector +12v OK.
It points toward an ECU problem ? has anyone come across a similar fault ?
All other cyl's on Bank are ok cyl 2 & cyl 6. are on the same circuit !!!
Any help on this would be much appreciated
thanks

Yeah, as you say, considering that 2-4-6 and powered and grounded as a batch....so my guess is that the fault is in the wiring to #4....probably very close to the injector itself.
Peel back a few inches sheathing and take a peek. Maybe a wire is broken...or perhaps a defect in the connector?
The injector wires and connectors take a helluva beating from engine heat. Many guys build a new harness (not that hard to do) and route it up and off of the engine where it doesnt get so badly baked.
Cheers

hi doug,
will investigate that, sounds like a wiring problem, how do the injectors get pulled low is there a power resistor in the circuit ?
many thanks

ok thanks points toward a splice failure, will investigate the wiring at the engine and let you know ....there is an eight way multiplug to the right side of engine comp..could i isolate the existing 2 way inj plug and fit a replacent two wire and wire them into the loom there as a test ?

cured....made a replacement two wire loom from no 4 injector, ran to the eight way at he right side of engine comp. spiced and heat shrunk in (ended off n4 inj two old wiring)..........runs sweet
