My 93 XJS needs a new tranny. I did not think it would be as difficult as it seems to be but it seems nearly to be impossible to find either a rebuilt or a used one. Several of the folks that have websites saying they do this type of work do not call or email back. Does Jasper do this tranny? Any help would be appreciated as my car is in the shop and I think the shop owner is ready for me to find him a tranny or tow it back home. I live in TX so something close would be nice however I am looking for most any option.

It is a common BMW box. Have you tried looking for a BMW one? Iirc they are identical. You can also use the ones from the XJ40 and X300 XJ6 models.

thanks for the cross references I was kind of looking for those other models. I also knew it was a BMW box but that is what surprises me is that they seem so hard to find. I have been putting the tranny number in the search string and coming up short on options.

Imassume they are hard to find, as BMW tends to use their own names... Jaguar is honest about what they have. You'll have mlre luck finding it from the XJ40 and X300...

found one from Coventry West and it was somewhat reasonable. I'm hoping all is well as it will come with a 90 day warranty. thanks for your insight on this.

thanks for the info. I am hoping not to have to readdress this for a while, but it is good to know there is someone close by. I had my kitty towed to Victor's in San Antonio which seems a knowledgeable shop.
