'10 XK - Reliability Issues
Ive had the car now for about 1 year and bought it second hand with 16,000 KM's and so far I am kinda surprised at how many things Ive had go wrong.
So far I had to change the water pump, handle in the truck, a tail light (moisture was getting into the housing), the brakes (YES I KNOW, they're brakes, they were out, just surprised how quickly they did, and no I'm not racing the car!), the dash board needs to be changed, i'm trouble shooting a suspension noise (see next thread) and now the air conditioning pump is starting to squeal and make noises.
I know its a machine and things break ...thats no issue. And to be honest, most of the stuff has been covered under warranty, However I am a bit surprised that I have had to do as much as I have on a car that is only 2 yrs old and has 36,000 KM's.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like a lot. I had a side window weatherstrip need to be aligned, a check engine light come on indicating a MAP sensor problem, and a low tire pressure warning indicator come on. First was fixed easily but haven't had it back for the other two yet. Around 20,000 km, a few days on the track, and the pads show minimal wear.

Quite a few for such a short time, sorry to hear of them and hope it is sorted out soon.
It's one of the tougher calls for any early 2010 buyer. The lack of long term records on the newer layouts and design shouldn't surprise anyone until a reliable track record has actually been built.
I suspect we will see more refinement as the years click by and some of these annoyances become identified.
As a side note to that thought:
I'm still waiting on the hammer to fall on "carbon build up" with Jags new Direct Injection System. Most manufacturers already had a 5 year leap on Jaguar and still can't seem to get it right. The 5.0 was built following a similar design that has infuriated other brand owners since 2005.
Only time will tell...

Good point CleverName.
In aviation its suggested not to buy the first 100 models so that the manufacture can work out the bugs and the buyer doesnt become the 'test bed' for further improvements ...and here I am bitching about buying the new 2010 model ....fair play!
Forgot to mention the passenger window, when I auto close it, it sometimes automatically return to the full down position. Sounds like Bruce H may have offered a thought on why that is!
I just prefer driving it down the road or on the track ...not to the shop to be fixed! ;-)
