Annoying buzz in cabin
Hi,
Just got a 2007 XKR and there is a buzz in the cabin that seems to come from behind the instrument cluster. It's really very noticeable, not just me being super sensitive. It is permamnent, I've waited until the LCD goes off and I haven't got the keyfob on me. No matter what, that buzz is always there. The local Jag garage said it's normal, they said it is the aspirator, but I just can't believe it. Has anyone else had this? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
John

John, I hear this noise after the car shuts off for a little while, but it eventually goes away. You're saying that it was there even if you came back hours later? and you heard it without opening the doors, and "turning on" the car into convenience mode (i.e. heard it via an open window or top down on convertible)?
So is the actual fault at issue the fact that it is buzzing, or the fact that it did not go away?

Noisy aspirator motor
John:
I'm a new member and I've had my 2008 XK conv. for 1 week. It too has the very noisy buzz behind the steering wheel. What was involved with the dealer replacing to motor/fan? Did they have to remove the whole dash or was it an simple replacement? The buzz is very annoying but I hesitate the thought of an invasive interior removal.
P.S
From all my searches, it looks like this is a frequent problem in several Jaguar models.
Thanks for any info from anyone.

I asked an eldery neighbor one time what he thought of his new car. He remarked that it certianly had a lot of safety items installed. He was seated inside the car with his wife and pointed at the steering wheel and remarked, "It's got an air bag on the left side," then he pointed at his wife, "and a wind bag on the right!" Then he pulled away laughing. His wife wasn't.

Mine's made that noise since day 1 as well. I'd be interested to see if the new one solves the problem. As far as I can tell, it's a background noise that's definitely audible, but everything is functioning correctly. Maybe they changed the design later to be quieter if replacing the part solves the issue...

That is just the part price. He told me ahead of time to see if I can find it cheaper. They have never done this repair, but dealership he gets parts from knew the part; to say this is not the first time they've ordered this part.
He is going to ask a Jaguar tech on the man hours and details to the repair. My mechanic is one of the biggest British repair place in Boston area. I might be their first 2007+ XK client.
