Default Battery Brands and sizes for XK/XKR/XKR-S

There has been so much discussion on these boards about faulty batteries and the replacement thereof. In these discusions it is rare that we see what brands, sizes, model/part numbers of lead acid or AGM battries that owners have installed.

Question:

What brand, size, type of battery, model/part number do you have in your XK/XKR-XKR-S or recently installed in your XK/XKR-XKR-S?

That information might be very helpful to others who experience battery related problems and are considering replacement.

Ive been in the car audio game for a few years now (serious car audio, not buying a set of kickers from Best Buy) and XS Power seems to be the leader in the battery world. In my 155db truck I have 6 XS D1400s for the subwoofer amp, and a D2700 under the hood to run the truck. Going on 3 years of nasty abuse constantly running them dead, sometimes voltage spikes and just plain ol hard use. Nothing but the best to say about XS, the only complaint I think Ive ever heard about them is the price.

Sears Diehard Advanced Gold AGM, Group 49...$179.99 but often on sale.

Sears website lists this as not fitting the vehicle, but the database is wrong...it is a perfect fit.

forgot to add that told them at sam's club the 09 xk vert was a 2010. Sam's won't put group 49 battery in 07-09's because it is not listed in their book as the correct battery, which they don't have. Fits and works flawlessly.

My next battery will probably be an Odyssey PC1350 (Group 49 AGM) - I put one in my XK8, and it did a good job. Unfortunately, the batteries listed above don't exist in the UK.

Thanks Rich, for asking the question.....Thanks to all of the guys that responded. Only having my ride for less than 72 hrs, has caused me to ponder a new battery, if nothing else, to start the clock ticking on my time, not an unknow.....
Happy Motoring today......

I installed the PC1700T in mine and so far it's been excellent. It's a wee bit smaller than stock though

The PC1350 is a bit taller than stock, but someone checked the height for me and it should fit; other dimensions are very similar.

Has anyone put in a lithium ion battery? Have thought about it. But haven't researched it enough to make a decision

Did they change the battery between the 08 and 10?

Both models show Varta T8 as the standard fit.

Just saw this post. The Delco Pro Gold part #49/93 6 Yr is a regular lead acid battery.

I have this battery presently in my 2009 XKR, with a CTEK 3300 Smartcharger permanently wired to the battery terminals. It's the 4.2L so the wire harness can be direct to the battery terminals and this battery allows for the left side battery vent tube.

Has anyone recently replaced their battery in a 2007 to 2012 XKR recently?

If so what battery did you buy. We have not had any new updates to this thread.

The original OEM battery in my 2004 Mercedes C230 started going bad (11 years old - not a bad run for a battery). The Merc and the Jag shares the same battery size (group size 49). I took the year old Bosch wet cell out of the Jag and put it in the Merc. I upgraded the Jag to a Deka Intimidator AGM. 190.00 USD with online discount from Batteries Plus.
