Maybe some XKR-S owners can chime in and verify this.

Yup - first appeared on the 75, which has "[a] new crossover pipe and larger exhaust outlets". This (or something similar) became the Performance Active Exhaust option, which is standard on the R-S.

Interesting. I believe my 175 had the resonators. I love this forum the members are the best.

That's because the 175 had the standard XKR exhaust - as you & I have discussed (lamented) in previous threads, you guys were robbed of the performance mods that the 75 got. The 175 is 'just' a Speed Pack with some extras (the quotes are to indicate that an XKR Speed Pack is no clunker).

I can't say for sure if my 175 had the resonators or not. However, I'm fully aware of the 175, because I owned 1, and its possible it was built on the short end of the stick with only cosmetic changes. The 75 without doubt has been built with all the performance enhancements. I get confused when I talk to Allan, the Jaguar service representative at West Palm Beach where my new 2013 was serviced for the infamous satellite radio software update. Allan had a wrecked 175 brought in which I was familiar with. He talked about the suspension parts being 10 times more expensive than the standard XKR parts. Which wold suggest the 175 was built with some performance enhancements. The 175 also was 10 mm lower than the standard XKR which is the same as the 75, XKR-S, and my new XKR with the dynamic pack which suggest a different suspension set up. If you go to topix and scan and post your cars built and compare it to my 175, an XKR-S, and my current XKR with dynamic pack you may find it interesting. I when to topix to confirm my new XKR was, indeed, built with the dynamic pack and performance exhaust.

DGL, that is an awesome car. Congrats!

Do you know if it has the same spring rates as the XKRS?

I don't have a clue about spring rates. The built of my car's suspension is identical to the XKR-S suspension built on topix. I used the VIN from an XKR-S for sale and compared it's build specs to my VIN's build specs.

I think Jaguar options these cars to maximize there margins. Can you believe the bright pack is a $4,000 option on the XKR-S when my car came standard with that option with the dynamic pack (polished Vulcan wheels included)?

I can't wait to drive it to compare it to my sold 175.

It's just that I can't find anything, from Jaguar or reviewers at the time, that suggests any performance enhancements on the 175 - not even lowered suspension. From Jaguar's press release:

The XKR175 is powered by a supercharged V8 with 510hp and 461 lb-ft of torque and top speeds raised to an electronically-limited 174mph. To ensure that the XKR175 remains stable at high speeds, a revised aerodynamic package incorporates a new front air dam, new side sills, a new rear diffuser and a larger rear spoiler providing increased balance and a reduction in lift. New 20-inch Kasuga 10-spoke alloy wheels, red brake calipers and Ultimate Black exterior paint adorn the car's exterior. Inside, door sill tread plates reading "XKR175 - 1 of 175" greet the driver and passenger while the leather is finished in Warm Charcoal with Cranberry stitching, all accompanied by Piano Black wood veneer.
If it had more goodies, like lower height or enhanced suspension, you'd think they'd shout about it. And Autocar said:

The model is based on the XKR Speed Pack that's available in Europe
Of course, it may be that options were available, and the car your dealer mentioned might have had the Dynamic Pack fitted. But, based on the above, the standard 175 didn't.

I don't have access to Topix, but I do have the build spec for my car - will PM it to you, for interest.

Schematic of the XKR and XKR-S exhausts attached so you can see the difference.

Thanks for the info.

Where did you find these pictures? Do you have any Schematics of the suspension for the XKR-S vs standard XKR?

The XKR with the dynamic pack option is equipped with spring rates that are 28% stiffer (same as XKR-S):

Congratulations DGL. I am torn about not having purchased that car, but I have a plan and I just need to stick to it.

But, at least it is going to a good home.

Don't sell it like the 175!! Enjoy driving that fantastic machine!

So... Basically you have an XKRS sans 40hp and the RS body kit... Which u yourself could tune it past the XKRS as its structurally the same engine with an aftermarket tune!!

ALL FOR A LITTLE OVER HALF PRICE!!

TOP MAN!!

I know. There's a strip club in the city where I live called Ralph's. He was very creepy to talk to.

The new cat is in my garage. I need to get it washed and registered before I take it out for a prowl.

The wrap job has some bubbles which I need to address.

The exhaust does sound different from the 175. It sounds a little more exotic. Overall I'm pleased with the car. The Ivory seats are going to be a pain to keep clean but they give the car a refined classic look.

Thanks Ryan. Back at you brother for dealing with your chirp issue. I would have lost it. I would not have had the patients.

I also have the bright pack, which is a $4,000 option on the XKR-S, can you believe it. Jaguar charges $4,000 on the XKR-S to finish the car with the bright pack which was standard on my car. What the hell...

If I knew you where serious about the car I would have let you or any other member have it. I really never enjoyed dealing with the sales manager. On the other hand, Ken, the salesman was great.

I'll have the car for sale in about 2 years. I only drive my cars about 3,000 miles/year and take exceptional care of them. File me away and send me a pm in about 20 months. I'd love to sell it to you. For now I'm going to enjoy looking after it for you.

On another note if that is the stock exhaust I find it very interesting Jaguar uses an X mid pipe and deletes the resonators for the XKR-S exhaust.

When I picked up the car I checked it out before the carrier lowered it. Both claps are on the front exhaust. The picture is very deceiving. The band is bolted on the opposite side from the direction of the picture and you can't see it. This was one of the first things I checked for.
