][ 2007 XK Convertible ][ Bike Rack Needed ][
Et al,
I am in need of a bike rack for an 07 XK Convertible. I have found that Saris Bones 2-Bike Transport Rack | Saris
Has the closest thing to a match but it is not on the list according to their fit guide. I called Saris support and still no avail. They were unsure and as such could not in good confidence recommend it due to potential problems.
Does anyone have any suggestions or lessons learned in this area. This is short notice because I am trying to buy one for this weekend.
Thanks everyone for your help in advance.
Joshua

Looks like it might fit, but I personally don't want to put a trunk mount carrier on my XK.
I've searched far and wide for a receiver hitch to install, but came up empty due to the aluminum unibody construction.
I've started working on building my own (still in the mock-up stage), but its a project I don't get much time to work on (especially set-back when my first half finished mock-up simply 'disappeared' out of my garage).

Not too sure if I have committed a heinous crime! I have fitted abike*rack*to my*XKR convertible. I have had cycle racks on all my previous cars, roof and boot mounted, and never had a problem but was somewhat hesitant about putting one on my Jaguar. Had to make some minor "adjustments" to the clips that hook into the boot, I opened them up a little a lined them wth rubber (old inner tube) to prevent then damaging the paintwork. I have also covererd the straps in micro fibre to prevent them chaffing the paintcoat. Still to sus out if I can open and close the roof with the rack installed but not too concerned about that! The only mods I have made are to use the toggle type fasteners that feed through from the inside of the boot and to put a more paint friendly rubber on the points of contact with the paintcoat. Tried to post some pics but having some problems, will try again later!

Jaggy Pat,
How much do you use the rack? What is the farthest you have traveled with it?
Saris support told me they don't recommend the bone 2 because of the bumper. What exactly do you suppose they mean? The email from them was not very descriptive. Their fit finder supports 06 and 09+ models what the heck is the difference from 07-09 bumper? I can maybe understand the 06 vs 07. Frustrating...
