Default 07 XK ...only one Reverse light??? Dealer says this is normal... I can't believe that

Hey Guys/Gals,

I took my XK in for service and to have a few bulbs replaced... front right cornering and the rear right round one...which Im told is the reverse light. (I just bought it a week ago) Its at the dealership NOW and the dealer SWEARS the rear lights are operating properly...but either in Reverse or Braking..(can't remember) round light on the right side does not light up RED like it does on the left. He says this is normal....and I have a hard time believing that there is only ONE reverse light or parking break light or fog light...or WHATEVER! Just can't believe that Jaguar would design a car without asymmetric lights???

Anyone have any input on how the rear lights are actually supposed to work, because i really have nothing with which to compare what I saw with my own eyes. I want to be sure everything is kosher before I pick it up tomorrow.

Much appreciated.

Post deleted...I was wrong ! Sounds completely crazy, though.

Good job, Keith.

There is only one reverse light on an 2007 so the dealer is correct. The other corresponding light is a fog light. They changed it when they switched to a much better looking version in 2010.

Check out the XK / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section for more help. This section is for '96-2006 and we won't be able to help you as much.

These threads address this oddity and switching to the newer style:

The single reverse light has been discussed numerous times in this section. Please do a search on the subject before starting another thread on the same subject.

Thanks.

As Westra says. One reverse light and the other is fog light. I got my XKR week and a half ago. I reversed it out of the garage the wife said 'thats not good, one of your rev lights is out' I checked them. Thats when i found out all was good. I'm with you JP, doesn't look right does it.

True, but a general search for back up light would have gotten him into this section.

Luckily, the Jag Forums search actually works pretty well!

I think you may be first to say that.

If I need to find something specific on the forum particularly if it is not recent Google is far superior.

Relax? Why? I'm not tense.

At least I didn't give you the old "RTFM" response!

I actually googled this same questions a few weeks ago, and this website came up with a thread talking about the rear lights. Up to that point, I thought I had a burnt out light as well.
