Well done. Have you considered clear protective film? I have a the whole front end of my car wrapped including the headlights. This reduces UV exposure so it limits fading, cracking, etc. It also protects against rock chips. It would be a shame if your new headlights took a rock after all of the expense and effort you have invested.

I had not. My rockers have a clear film on them that now needs to be replaced. I may have them do the front too. Want to keep new lights from fading and parking inside during driving season not an option. Too many cars. 16 total.

Given that you park outside and you clearly saw with the old headlights what the sun and elements can do to pristine headlights, I'd highly recommend you at least put clear film on the headlights. There are several companies that make pre-cut kits for the X150 headlights. You can use one of these to do it yourself or have a local wrap place do the job for you. I wish I had wrapped my car as soon as I bought it. Sadly, I waited a little while and got a rock to the bonnet. It is touched up, but it will never be quite as perfect as it was.

There is custom precut film for the XK headlight. Whether you polish or replace, this film extends the life greatly: https://lamin-x.com/jaguar-xk-07-11-...ht-covers.html

I will check into these film coverings. Must do something as the car will be in my stable for some time to come. Should be long enough to fade, which I cannot allow to happen. It's sad to see so many newer vehicles with faded headlights. If the manufacturers insist on selling us plastic headlights they could at least make them last!

Smile XK Headlight replacement

I made a little video on how to replace the headlights and how to tell the difference between AFS and non-AFS.
