'07 XKR production numbers?
#2
???
Really? No one knows how many were sold/built in 07? I can't find the information anywhere on the net, so maybe it's a secret. I'd just like to know how many others are out there.
First impressions after driving my new XKR for a couple of weeks. LOVE IT!
Transmission is a little stiff (mainly 1st to 2nd) for the first 5 to 10 minutes, which is how long it takes me to drive to and from work. Smoothes out nicely if I drive a little longer.
Occasionally the CD player is in pause mode and I haven't found a control that will start it playing again. I just turn the system off and on again.
Gas milage sucks with commuting, but of well...
Black is a b**** to keep clean, but it sure is eye popping.
Still getting used to the head turning power of this car.

Hi Paul,
I like you am interested in the overall numbers...I have an 08 XXR Convertible. I saw where they don't report them anymore now that TATA has taken over...which may be a sign of things to come. It can't be much tho if you look at total north american sales for last year...especially considering that the "R" would I think be a smaller part of the overal XK production...This article http://e-carzone.com/news/auto_5541.shtml says:
JAGUAR BRAND FEBRUARY 2008 U.S. SALES
-------------------------------------
February % Year-To-Date %
-------- ------------
2008 2007 Change 2008 2007 Change
---- ---- ------ ---- ---- ------
XJ 225 351 -35.9 427 735 -41.9
S-TYPE 402 276 45.7 515 586 -12.1
X-TYPE 180 246 -26.8 279 515 -45.8
XK 256 318 -19.5 506 745 -32.1
--- --- --- ---
Total Jaguar 1,063 1,191 -10.7 1,727 2,581 -33.1
If you extrapolate these numbers for a year assuming even sales throughout the year (probably not) you end up with about 3816 total XK sales in 2007 and 3072 total xk sales in 2008 (I'm sure that the real numbers are somewhere just didn't find them). I recall seeing a figure somewhere of about 2800 for the XK series in 2008...which makes sense as sales probably fell off dramatically toward the end of 2008.
So at any rate if you take an arbitrary rate (trash in equals trash out) of 20% (the ole 80/20 rule) for "R" series (1 in 5 of total XK production) then you are probably looking at something like 763 XKR for 2007 and 614 XKR for 2008. You would then have to divide this into Convertible and Coupe and I would not even have a guess (but what the hell I'll take one anyway)...let's say one in five again since 80/20 always seems to be a good starting place for alot of things and if history means anything it seems as there are alot more convertibles running around compared to coupes)...so for 2007 153 Coupes and 610 convertibles...and for 2008 123 Coupes with 491 Convertibles...
OK...so how is that for a total make believe number from bad data and most assuredly worse assumptions...so now for us to be like the news media we need to take this total trash number and disseminate it like it is real facts and pretty soon it will be :-)

well, I guess that would explain why I seem to be the only one in town. Sure is fun not meeting myself coming and going. I thought the numbers were a lot higher, somewhere around 2000 XKR coupes, but again, have never found any information to support that. Maybe someone out there has some solid figures?
Thanks for the guess.

Did you search the X150 forum? There have been at least three discussions on it within the past ten months. Detailed info in all.

Wonder how to get where our cars are in relation to total numbers, I know in such other motor equipment as i come from a farming background the you can get the exact number from a vin like plate to tell it is number 1,2,3,4,5, etc.

Nigel Thorley's book "You and your Jaguar XK/XKR" is a good source of info. I bought a copy and read it before I made the final choice on my car purchase. It includes tables of production numbers all the way from 1996 to 2014. Thorley is frustratingly vague in a few places, and there are one or two inaccuracies. But there's a lot of really useful stuff in there.

You may be able to get the numbers you are looking for from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust. Email them at shop@jaguarheritage.com. You will probably get a response from a Tracy Nabbs requesting a 35 pound fee. For instance she advised me that my vert is one of 16 2013 XKR verts painted in Rhodium Silver.

Hi great thread.
I speak from experience of owning 2 X150s for a total of 6 years.
My first was an 06 XK and after dealing with a few niggles (engine warning light, traced to a poor connection) I had 3.5 years trouble free motoring with low service costs except tyres and petrol. I sold it with a tear in my eye and cash in my pocket to finish a house project.
The current model in a pamered low mileage 2010 XKR, for which I traded in a Porsche Macan. I just had a yearning to get back into the XK again but this time wanted the extra power of the supercharger. I've had a persistent misfire on tickover which hasn't got worse and is unnoticeable when driving, but 2 years after investigations it's no worse. But wow what a monster, it eats BMW M cars for breakfast, yet moments later cruises along like a Bentley. I expect more years of trouble free driving.
I've upgraded the front B&W speakers and just fitted F-Type Gyrodyne alloys, and can live with the antiquated media system.
I have a car that I own in all respects and the dealer can't turn off the seat heaters or heated steering wheel because I don't have a subscription. I'll stick with my 13 year old tech with muscle-car power and drop dead gorgeous looks, and you can stick your Tesla where the sun doesn't shine!
