I tried that already and my phone isn't on the list, but then it's only been on sale a few days. Also, there are a number of other phones which folks on the UK forum have tried and got to work that aren't on that list, so definitive isn't correct.

It also said my VIN was for an XE, so I'm not inclined to believe anything it says.

My original question stands; has anyone else had and/or been able to solve an issue whereby the phone pairs but the connection with the car repeatedly drops and reconnects over and over?

Sorry to hear that the "DEFINITIVE" isn't correct. Looks like Jaguar's website has glitches, just like its cars. Try posting in other current and modern model forums to get broader exposure. Hopefully, you'll get answers that will keep your phone connected.

I'm not sure it's Android 6.0 specifically - I have the original Nexus 5 now with Android 6.0 on it and it connects fine. Still have the issue with contact names being garbled but I can maintain connection and make/receive calls.

Might be the bluetooth implementation on the phone - which they may be able to update??

I did some Googling this morning, I found a very long thread in the official Nexus device support forum on Google, a number of earlier Nexus and 3rd party device users are having problems with all sorts of bluetooth devices either since upgrading their device to 6.0 or buying a new device with it installed already. Hopefully Google will release a fix.

I'm going to try my phone with my wife's Mercedes tonight and will try resetting the bluetooth module in my XKR too.

8bit,

Good idea to reset the Bluetooth in your XKR. Also, to start with a "clean" phone, turn it off - power it down - wait a minute, and then turn it back on. Hopefully, that will work.

If it doesn't, I'd go back to where you bought your new Google Nexus 5X and ask them to try to connect another, identical phone and see if it will connect to your XKR. If it works, then the problem is with your specific phone. If it doesn't connect, I think you're out of luck with that model phone unless Google releases an update that fixes it.

Stuart

Reset the bluetooth module by disconnecting the large, grey connector for a few moments, then plugging back in. Doesn't seem to have helped at all. Will try calling my dealer and see if they can do a software check/update on the car.

OK so I think I've solved whats causing the car to keep dropping the bluetooth connection to my new Marshall London phone (android lollipop 5.0.2) as soon as it connects: I think its because the phone is trying to direct audio streaming (A2DP) to the car too, and the car is basically saying "I can't do that".

I found that out because I have the optional Jaguar Audio Connectivity Module installed, and I have one of these plugged into it so I can stream audio over bluetooth to the car stereo:
Amazon.com: Miccus Mini-jack RX: Bluetooth Music Receiver pair it with Phones, Tablets, PCs and Apple Devices: MP3 Players & Accessories Amazon.com: Miccus Mini-jack RX: Bluetooth Music Receiver pair it with Phones, Tablets, PCs and Apple Devices: MP3 Players & Accessories

As long as I have the Miccus paired before I try and connect to the car, the phone sends only phone stuff to the car and only music stuff to the Miccus, and the car then keeps the phone connected just fine. Of course the car phone book is all screwed up still, just as it was with my Galaxy S3, but if you see my new thread that I posted a link to above, I may have a solution pending for that too.
