Already have two, don't need a third.

WOW! That car back in 1957 must have been unbelievable. Jaguar needs to build cars today as outstanding as this car was in its time. What a piece of work. Cars like this is what I use to think of when I heard someone say "Jaguar". Jaguars of today no longer look this outstanding--too bad.

Jaguar is building 9 more 1957 XKSS "continuation" models using the same manufacturing methods and leftover OEM and reproduction parts. Price will exceed $1 million, a bargain compared to an original one.

I'd rather have the Grumman amphib in the background.

Flyc2c,
Looks like an Albatross, but it'd probably cost what the XKSS is worth to put it back into flying condition.

That, would take some serious garage space.

I've been working on the ground beneath that Grumman S2, Cal Fire Tanker 94, more than once...!

They're California's Official State Bird of Summer.

A red one has been on display for decades in the Race Bar at Clyde's, a restaurant on Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase, MD (a suburb of Washington, D.C.). See my 2013 thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-suburb-99895/

Yes, McQueens XKSS has pride of place at the Peterson museum in LA.
Or it did have the last time I visited.

Bidding fell short at $11.9M so it didn't sell. Auction house may be cutting a deal with the bidders though to meet the min bid yet! 80% of the audience stayed just to see this particular model on the block! It was really exciting and got a standing ovation when it entered. Up close there were two workers keeping us common folk back as well as keeping the smallest spec of dust from falling on it. ha
What a pleasure to see it in person though......no couldn't afford to bid more than $11M myself!

Addendum: The bad news for me was we were rear ended on the way into the auction and now have to deal with repairs! The guy that hit me is not going to be excited about the cost of fixing an aluminum Jag!

Ouch! Sorry to learn about that unfortunate event.

The good news is that you're in Georgia, which is one of the few states that recognizes diminished value (DV) claims. DV is the difference between the fair market value (FMV) of the vehicle immediately before and immediately after the accident. Even though the other driver is at fault, you should make a DV claim against your insurance company immediately after your car has been repaired, since they are more likely to be on your side and will subrogate against the other driver's insurance company. Note that the repair cost is a significant factor in determining your car's FMV after the accident. One way to know what your repaired car is worth is to take it to CarMax and show them the repair invoice and get their offer in writing. Another way is to pay a qualified DV expert for their independent appraisal.

Insurance companies in Georgia try to low-ball DV claims. If you receive a check for DV with a cover letter explaining that the amount was determined "pursuant to the 17C formula in Mabry v. State Farm", don't fall for it. Don't deposit that check and, instead, send it back and tell them that you disagree with their determination. Instead of hundreds, you could get thousands!

These are just a few resources, and you can find more by searching "Diminished Value in Georgia". I have no affiliation with any of the above links.

Your unfortunate event reminded me of a tasteless joke, so my apologies if anyone is offended. Did you hear about the woman who went into the butcher shop and backed into the meat slicer? Disaster!

Stuart,
Thank you very much for the insurance information! I had no idea DV could help in getting some relief for the grief that I know is to come in dealing with a repair. I'll review it all and attempt to become versed on the steps to follow. His insurer contacted me and assured me the claim would be a simple process and they would handle everything. Hopefully though, I'll be wiser with the knowledge your providing!
I just want my baby back the way she was this morning (before the rear end modification).

By the way guys, the McQueen XKSS is on permanent display at the Peterson. Right now it is sandwiched between an SS100 and an XJ220 (I think that is the proper name).
