Default 1st glitch

Took out the XKR today as it was a 60* day in NY. Popped the top and took a ride to visit friends. After the visit came back and started the car and the home screen came on but the selections were blank meaning you could not adjust any of the climate features. So we drove around with it the way it was and went over to my BIL's for a chat. Came back out and started it up and everything was normal. This was the 1st time out in a week but it is on the smart charger when not in use. Battery was replaced 6 months ago before I purchased it and a quick check has it a 12.6 V After i shut it down for an hour. I'm not to concerned but will keep an eye on it. I practice the Jaguar sequence of shutting down the car and locking it and hooking up the smart charger so we'll see where it goes.

I have had the same issue a few times and it always corrected itself after a shut down. I guess our cars are more like computers these days. Sometimes the software seems to get stuck and it needs a reboot. If it starts happening more frequently I will take it in.

Yep I considered that too. As a point of interest even with the screen features off I pressed the up (hot) temp button and the system worked but the features stayed blank. After the restart and everything was normal I looked at the temp number and it went up from before I had the issue. So it works only the numbers didn't show up when the features didn't show.

There are many modules in the car that can still be a culprit. Yes, the battery always comes first as a possible cause, so don't completely rule it out. Take it to Jaguar and have them do a diagnostics on it. Let us know how you make out. Good luck.

Considering a dealer visit is a day trip for me and I don't see any battery related issues I'll just keep an eye on it to see if it presents itself or if any other issues show up. If so I'll set something up with a dealer . I have my own diagnostics equipment available and will just monitor it.

It's great that you can handle diagnostics, however Jaguar gremlins can be pretty deceptive and tricky. Good luck.

I've experienced this with my last 2010 XKR 175, once under normal conditions and twice after draining the battery down. As soon as the battery charged up or I restarted the problem self corrected. I've had no problems with my 2013 XKR but I'm sure I will experience a similar problem some time. IMO I think it is software related.

Okay. You got a problem that occurs once in a blue moon, self corrects and has no adverse effects. Duh what to do?

Do nothing. The search will surely hoover up your bank account, quite possibly make the problem worse or maybe never be found.

My money is on "watch and wait".
