2005 XKR vs 2010 XKR

I actually love the look of my 2005 XKR but I'm desiring a little more reliable horsepower. The 2010 XKR with the 5 liter supercharged v8 is calling my name. The local dealer recently took one in on trade in. It's black with 33k miles on it and is lovely. I prefer a silver coupe but this one is nice too...
I test drove the car and the power and handling is heads and tails above my car. But the body lines of the 10 just doesn't compare in my opinion to the 2005 XKR. But they look as starting to grow on me and I know that I will still own a beautiful car with a performance that I'm desiring its such a tough call because I got my car at a good rate and I know that I could sell it to a neighbor for $3000 more than I paid for it.
I'm at a crossroads I really don't know what to do I want to keep my 05 because of the beautiful last generation of the car but I want the newer body style with everything it has to offer what am I going to do?!
I can't afford both... I wish I could! Should I keep my XKR and fight the bug or give in to my speed vice? Or should I just wait and by a 2011 XJR next fall? Help!

The pre-2006 models are really gorgeous. I see a red coupe from time to time, and even now you stop and look. For me the post 2006 is also gorgeous, and I cant see myself getting out of mine for quite a while. It has the combination of muscle and beauty which suits me perfectly. It also has a nice interior with pretty much everything I got used to from having the XFs.
I wouldnt change out of a car that I loved just to get a faster one, I'd probably mod the one I had a little. I found that the 5 litre NA (about the same stats as the 4.2 supercharged) was easier to drive hard than the 5.0 supercharged, also you will lose the supercharger whine and the exhaust note isnt quite as good in the 5 litre engines as the 4.2. But every time I drive mine I come out smiling, it is an awesome car.

I owned a '97 XK8 before moving to a '10 XKR. Going from an NA 4.0 to a supercharged 5.0 was a large performance step, and one that took a bit of getting used to. The aesthetics question is subjective; I like both cars, but I think the slightly brutal look of my XKR (which has the Speed Pack aero kit) just edges it for me. And the XKR is definitely superior in all other respects - handling is sharper, steering more responsive, audio system sounds better and it has all the good toys like auto lights and wipers, keyless locking and start, etc. In my case, I was jumping nearly 14 years of automotive development, and I really noticed it; your experience would be a bit different.

I'd go with the 2010 or you'll always be 2nd guessing your sticking put due the power, options, and general evolution of the car. I don't find the newer lines as a negative at all. Both look great, but the newer interior is nicer and as a long term investment, the 2010's+ will be the ones everyone wants.
If black is not color, wait it out for the combo you want; that is important.

I too had this dilemma, chose the '10 (at a higher cost) then the earlier models (lower cost) but am glad I did.
The performance of the '10's and above are far superior to earlier models. No question about it. The ride and the options best the earlier models by a large margin. Plus, you may be able to get one with a warranty.
Some like the earlier style, but the current model speaks performance, up-to-date style and Jaguar history loudly.
No comparison with earlier models as to performance and driveability. Style and looks are still in the eye of the beholder, but the '10 looks sweet every where it goes, garners smiles at rest (as most all Jags do) with nothing but jealous smiles at performance but the newest has the classic lines and a "power" growl and look that is hard to beat.
Choose wisely grasshopper!!!!!
