2007-2009 XKR Seats
Is it just me, or are the seats in the 4.2 XKRs especially horrible in cornering? I mean, I literally slide right out of the seat--I have to brace with my knee to stop from flying out of the car, it seems! What do you guys think? Are later seats any better?
Definitely my butt loses traction before the tires do, and I don't think it's because the tire grip is that good...

Losing weight may be something to consider regardless of the car's buckets.

So this brought a secondary question to my mind.
Between 2007 and 2013, how many versions of seats were available in the XK/R/R-S series? Not paying attention to materials, just coutours and such.
I admit the side bolsters in my XK are lacking, even when inflated.
My parts diagram only goes to 2010, but shows the following for the seat-back:
XK Luxury Pkg C2C24154
XK Sport Pkg XR849360
XKR Luxury Pkg C2C24154
XKR Sport Pkg XR849360
XKR Portfolio Pkg C2P16800
All show the same seat-bottom XR851091
Does the Sport or Portfolio offer larger side bolsters?
I know my Lux pkg has the 16 way adjustable. Is this an option offered with all the variations, or did you have to have the Lux Pkg to get it?

I would think *losing* weight would make the problem worse...you would be lighter, smaller, and would move around even more in the seat.
Being bigger would make the seat feel snugger around you, but the extra weight would affect the cars performance negatively...
Yes, the tape is the best answer.

Actually, I tried the bolsters again today, and made them as stiff as they would go. It really does seem to help! I will try it again on some curvier roads (my commute doesn't give me much chance to throw the car around!).
However, my bolsters seem to deflate by the time I get in the car the next time. So maybe I just need to remember to inflate the side bolsters when I want to do some more serious driving.

I'm currently chatting to a racing seat company regarding fitting racing seats (similar to XKR-S seats), the process isn't as simple as you think. The dashboard will light up like a Christmas tree with many errors. An airbag lives in each of the standard seats, these can be over written with a resistor, but the main problem is the pressure airbag sensor in the passenger seat. The switch isn’t a closed or open circuit as the system knows when it’s been disconnected and triggers and fault code which then needs to be reset. This code stops the SRS system functioning correctly.
We're working on this now and will report in along with pics of new seats fitted!
