2007 antenna replacement
#21
my xk was loaded this morning and headed to California. I am reporting that the antenna was damaged when the car was loaded. it will retract all but the last 5 inches. I will try to fix the antenna as suggested by working out the kink...I hope that works. I will update the thread in a few days when the car arrives in san diego.
just disappointed as the car was simply brand new and without any fault...no the case anymore

I will try the first option to carefully work the kink out. the antenna retracts nicely up to the last five or six inches so it may be something I can repair and not replace. second option will be to replace the antenna only as has been suggested by several on this thread.
the shipping company has been very responsive and has essentially said they will fix whatever is needed and have been profusely apologetic. it is not that big a deal but just one more thing I need to take care of.
I will let you all know if I am successful in the fix in about a week.
thank you again for the help.
best,
pcb

I tried to fix the antenna by bending it carefully into place. it did not work as the base of the antenna has been moved from the center of the opening and now rubs the side of the opening to the extent that the base rubs against the body colored "collar or base" that connects to the body

Can anyone please specifically confirm that URO antenna mast part LNA4134AA which is the mast sold for the (pre2006) old XK8 will fit a 2007 XK. If not can someone give me the part number for what does fit.
The complete antenna assembly for the XK8 is listed as JLM 21921. The assembly for the 2007 and on XK is listed as JLM 21920. But obviously those are $$$$
APA Industries (who make/distribute URO parts) told me adamantly that it wont fit.....
Thanks

I ordered my antenna off eBay, I don't it was a URO part, but it was for an old XK8. Ebay said it wouldn't fit, but it did. My understanding is that they just carried over the old antenna from the XK8 to the MY2007 new body style. They probably had a bunch in inventory so they just used them on the 07. If it fits the old body style, it will fit yours, despite what the book says. It should be pretty cheap, right? I paid $15 for mine and it was stainless steel.

Replacement Antenna Mast for 2007 XK
The dealer insists that you must replace the whole mechanism as there is no replacement just for the mast. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!!
I followed this link and ordered a replacement mast only from antennamastsrus.com and it did not fit! The good news is that one phone call to them is getting me the right mast. Their tech support is extremely knowledgeable. They knew exactly what i needed as soon as they looked at the pictures I sent them.
Today, Jaguar charges close to $1000 just for the part where as the replacement mast IS, in fact, available at about $15 plus postage and the work to replace is rather simple.
Don't be ripped off by Jaguar you can replace just the mast!
I'd suggest that you first take the old mast out and send picture to antennasrus.com to determine exactly which one you need. It seems there may be more than one type!
Replacement process is to remove the bezel (held by rubber grommet) you can reach inside the hatch on the right side and help the grommet out. Unscrew the top nut and it pulls right out.
It is a 15 minute job.
I'd suggest using some soap or glycerine to soften the grommet on the bezel to be able to slide it back in place.
Picture attached is what end of my mast looked like vs. the ones described earlier in this thread.

Another solution is to do away with the periscope altogether like many of us have. For @$35 and an hour or so fiddling you can opt for a hidden antenna and that big arial/ham radio beacon need ever pop up again. You'll lose AM reception, find no loss in FM reception, and not worry about it getting broken.

2007 XK Antenna
As far as part number from antennasrus.com you would need to call Chuck at that company to get that info.
The Jaguar part for the whole assembly is C2P16200XXX KIT Radio Antenna comes complete. List price $790.00 and discounted at jaguarparts.com $663.60
Again, the best approach would be to disassemble the one on your car, take a picture and send to Chuck. That works.
Mine as shown in the picture has a nylon stop at the end and it is about 7.5mm in diameter. The one referred to in the instructions with a locking insert is 8.0mm shaft and will not fit into the ferrule on my XK.
Above being stated my car did have one replacement installed by Jaguar about 2 years ago ($500 - but you can see the price did not go down.) That is why I state that it is best to take it apart first to see what you have installed first.
Hope this all helps?

OK, I obtained the new antenna from antennasrus.com and their part number is A008-DBC2200.
It is an exact replacement, installed easily and is working as expected. Teeth on the cable face rear of car when inserting new antenna cable.
The bezel slipped right in with a slight twisting motion.
Total cost with shipping less than $20.00
I still would recommend that you disassemble the old one first to see which version you have as there seems to be 2. Again, in my case I did have one dealer installed replacement @500 a couple of years ago.
