Is there a way to test the switch? Or is it replaceable?
Don't know what kind of charger you were using but with the battery below 12V you should have at least used at min. a 5-10Amp charger for a few hours and then put a smart charger on it for overnight. Sounds like you need to de-sulfate the battery using a multi step smart charger. Keep us posted.

I find it hard to believe that this is a battery problem. If you can start the engine off the battery then the roof retracting should not be a problem with the engine running. I presume you have totally disconnected the battery which should reboot the system. I think you have something more than just battery condition. Untill you located the back slide shelf switch and find out if it functioning correctly then you can start to eliminate the obvious problem of the self location issue. Just my view and stand to be corrected if it is a battery condition issue.

On the XK it can indeed still be a voltage issue if the engine starts. The low voltage issues can manifest themselves in any of the electronic systems from warning lights to touch screen to electric roof issues. Now, that said, there may indeed be something further here but the very first thing to do is to provide full and consistent voltage to all systems. I have observed first-hand what can happen in a 2007 convertible with a low battery: boot lock, rear side windows, door locks, front windows, top latching issues, random warning lights and finally a very interesting dance of the flashers ( not men, I mean the flashers on the Jag) in the middle of the night. All of this, every single bit of this, instantly remedied by installation of a new battery.

Well I cannot argue with that. as you say it was resolved. I just find it hard to believe that the battery level is the main fault for everything. I guess I am just lucky that my car is really used in the winter, it does not sit on a maintenance charger all winter and does have any problems and my remote roof has never missed a beat. I will concede that to have it on a maintenance charger is a good idea and will prolong the battery life.j

Thanks. This was perfect. Checked mine and found the clip was missing. Had just changed out the battery. Rooted around in the spare wheel well and found the clip. You saved me many hours of frustration.

Meng, that makes me feel better that I'm not the only one it happened to.
