2007 XK Bluetooth Phone question?

I usually agree with Mosesbotbol on about everything, but perusing the forums has left me with the opinion that the XKs all HATE any iphone ever built. My daugher's i6 and her husband's i5 only connect to my XKR sporadically, and sound really quite poor when they do (I paired them only for these experiments), but the wife's Galaxy S6 Edge+ (gorgeous phone, not enough storage) and my HTC ONE pair every time, flawlessly. I really don't think it's the Vehicle's problem, but the interaction between the vehicle and an apple.

For those Android users having issues like myself the "Marshmallow" (Lollipop was terrible and MANY cars including BMW's, Mazda's, etc had issues with connectivity) update is currently being rolled out worldwide. I've got a HTC M8 on Verizon I hope to see mine in the next week or so praying that will allow me to finally connect to my XK. Hopefully they got it right this time around

I have had a good run of a few months with the blutooth connection but yesterday it failed, would not connect no matter what I did. Locked the car, restarted the car, restarted the phone, all the above. The phone was in my pocket near the driver side door at first, moved it into the ashtray where I could see it and still nothing. I then realized that I normally put the phone in my bag in the back seat of the XK (2007) and so placed my phone on the arm rest of the back seat. Started the car and viola, it worked just fine. We know early versions of the Blutooth had very short range and was designed to be a short range device and maybe the metal and other barriers attenuated the signal. I realized the module for the phone is in the trunk somewhere and so being closer might help. Maybe folks can try this, it's not an expensive test.
Additionally, which may make my comment void, is that I got a message telling me my rear passenger stop light was out, stopped the car and tested it, the light was fine, got back in and the message was gone and has not reappeared. Not sure if all of this is just a Jag gremlin that comes and goes....it is almost halloween!

Comment on an old thread that may help someone: The X150 BT antenna is located below the Rear Seat Junction box. It is visible when the rear center backrest is removed.
It's a black chip about 1.5X1.5 inches square with a single wire (small coax) entering from the passenger side (US version).

Bluetooth solved
Thanks all for the input, for new people my mistake on the forum was not giving more detail about the issue. I did pull the bluetooth plug from the module a few times and plugged it back in, no luck. I then sprayed both ends with electrical cleaning spray, waited a day because i dont drive a convertible in the rain and my phone connected. What a releif!! I hope this helps others and again thank all for the input but TBERG had the issue nailed,

Thanks for the last 2 messages gents, i will go over and follow the flow chart. Ill add when the phoen came back on line I didnt have to pair it again. Now offline the pair but will beep like before but is dead. Buttons on the left on dead. If you see a post from me you can count on the fact I have done all the basic trouble shooting.

I am an Android user. Why, back when I had a 2012 XK vert I went through 3 or 4 (I forget how many) I phones due to them getting corrupted after about two to three months and as a result would no longer stay connected to my XK. Back then one had a contract. The day my contract expired I replaced the I Phone I had with a Galaxy and have been using Galaxy Notes ever since. Never have had a problem with the Galaxy phones.

Update - and again folks all basic trouble shooting has been done, issue is not with phone or car settings. I hadnt started the car for a month so the battery was dead, trickle charge dfor 2 days and after starting the bluetooth worked. Im hoping someone with electronics knowledge can weigh in and explain this one. With these cars when the amo drop below 13 electronics act goofy, this is a new battery and had 13 amps.

A good battery will not go dead in a month of sitting.
These cars demand a good power source.
The battery will not read 13v when fully charged and the engine not running.
A car running and the voltage reading 13v is equally not good.
I would argue the “basic” troubleshooting is not complete.

Hi Stuart
I have a 2007 XK convertible that was connected to my i-phone 7 but now has been shut out. I've shut down Siri as some posts suggest, but I cant get past the button that says Yes in the search window. Nothing happens after that. I have also read that if the phone was previously listed you delete the listing. How do you do that?
Cheers
Steve

I'm not sure what you mean about "deleting the listing", but I suspect that you want to remove your iPhone from being electronically connected to your car and start again from scratch. That connection is called "pairing", and applies to both Android and Apple phones. That process is described in your Owner's Handbook. It's possible that your Bluetooth module is bad and needs to be replaced.
