Dear all,
I just observed this operation on my car and it did not seem to make sense to me. When I lock the car with the fob or by pressing the door handle, and I remove the key fob from the environment so that the car cannot see the fob electronically, I can physically pull the door open via the exterior door handle, and then the alarm system goes off. I get it that the alarm system should go off because it doesn’t see the key fob, but why does it permit me to physically open the car door? So this means to me that when my car is sitting locked in the parking lot anybody can just pull on the handle and the door will open up and the alarm will go off, so bottom line my car is easily accessible to a thief. The alarm goes off but you still get into the car, this makes no sense to me Do I have a programming issue? Any advice appreciated.
thanks
Reginald Kidd

See this link and note the second paragraph in GGG's reply. It's the microswitch assuming the fuse is working. A real pain to do but certainly doable. GGG also has a DIY for replacing it in the DIY section of the XK forum.
