Uhh, obviously.. I'm talking about the facelift done on the x150 in 2011.

Not obvious at all; if you were in the market for a 5.0L you didn't make that clear. Rather, you led me to believe that you wanted a 4.2L because you were comparing your 2005 XKR to the newer X150 XK model with 300HP and stated: "I don't think 07-08 XK's can drop much more, so those are the years I'm focused on."

Why would I think you were talking about the 5.0L? By the way, the facelift began with the 2010 model, not the 2011.

Regardless, go for the newest model year, lowest mileage, best condition, X150 within your budget. You'll love it.

i can help with some clarity.
if you buy a car that cost less than a Toyoda corolla, expect to make some concessions.

if you buy a car in Jaguar territory, i.e. $50k, expect the world and expect to outrun a Lamborghini huracan.

but i caution that neither is a young persons car, its decidedly for those who value certain things not provided by mainstream cars.

Why are you bothering to enter logic into this Q&C?

The infotainment center in the center console makes the whole car feel old. Is there a way to upgrade it for a newer unit? What year XK did the infotainment center get upgraded? I don't know it I can live with this center console setup

Get a Prius and be happy!

is it possible to install a 2012 infotainment system in a 2007 xk?

Why would you do that? They are the same.

In 2009 MY Jaguar added a couple of cosmetic features to the touchscreen, mainly options for green screen or blue and a few extra screen savers. That said, 07-09 are interchangeable and will work but putting an 09 screen in an 07 will not give you those 09 options. The screen would have to be flashed to an 09.

2010 - onward have the same look and functionality as the 09 screen BUT will not work in your 07. The 2010 onward use different heat control modules to if you put one in, your heat controls will not work and if memory serves, your steering wheel heat and seat heater soft controls won't work either.

So as Cee Jay points out, no difference except a couple of cosmetic ones.

Now you may be referring to something different when you say infotainment system, such as iPod connectivity. That you can retrofit but requires SDD reprogramming and a about $300 in parts.

You can find that info in the Sticky section> DIY thread under #10> Upgrades> Backup Camera, iPod, USB retrofit
