2007 XKR Convertible Portfolio w. top problems
Greetings all!,
This is my first post in quite a while. I've sold all previous Jags...Now, I'm getting very close to buying a 2007 XKR Convertible Portfolio with @115 thousand miles.
Can't wait!
The potential problems according to the owner.
1. The convertible sometimes sticks with raising or lowering.
this I'm guessing (going to look at the car shortly)
This shouldn't involve more than a bit of electrical troubleshooting?
Or... Motor?
Here she is...
2. The passenger seat was replaced due to a slight scratch in leather.
After replacement, it has intermittent issues of no movement from switches.
3. The passenger rear view glass/mirror has bubbled due to excessive heat. (
This last issue I think I can figure out.
Suggestions re: the convertible and the passenger seat switch issues
Thx, (in advance).
Tim

So I just spoke with the owner re: the convert top.
He said he's pulled the "string" attached to a box re: the tonneau cover.
And mentioned that the top stops when he hears a "pop" coming from that "box".
Does one need to do something to "restore" the tonneau box to normal to get the top to function properly?
Or not related at all.
He was aware of the "reset" of windows to get the top to function after a battery change or disconnect.
He's fixed the prob. in past with the "reset" method.
So, same thing happening again, one would assume it's a battery issue?
Or the "lanyard" coming from the tonneau box?
He doesn't think it's a hydraulic issue, though I didn't ask if he'd changed the fluid, and no "dash" messages.

Are you sure that's a 2007 XKR? I think it might be a 2008 model that was manufactured in 2007. Why do I think so? Because there is no such thing as a 2007 XKR Portfolio!
2007 was the first model year for the North American market X150 models, and 2008 was the first model year for the limited production Portfolio coupe and convertible, all of which were Celestial Black with chrome Cremona wheels, Adaptive Cruise, and Alcon Performance Brakes. It also has Portfolio embossed scuff plates at the doors.
Celestial Black is an amazing color. At night, it looks deep black. In bright daylight, it's blue-black, as in the photo.
It's also possible that it is a 2007 XKR that has been modified to look similar to a 2008 XKR Portfolio. Post photos of the steering wheel and front wheel brake caliper and rotor.

I agree with Stuart. I don't believe this is a Portfolio since they did not make a 2007 XKR Portfolio. From the picture, the brake drums, calipers, and wheels don't look right. The seats look tan and the exterior color looks too blue, so It is not a 2008 Portfolio either.
Still a nice car. But it the owner is representing it as a 2007 Portfolio, I'd look into it further.

I've seen a few internet articles state there were some Portfolios available in 2007, but the description matches the 2008 Portfolio (Celestial Black, Cremora wheels, dove or black leather, aluminum or walnut veneers). See a short blurb and picture gallery here: https://www.motortrend.com/news/2007...-xkr-portfolio
The wheel sort of look like Cremoras, but the spokes seem too wide. Might be the angle. The brake calipers are supposed to have a red R on them, but the pictured ones look green (although they might have been replaced?). I know my 2009 has a Portfolio rear badge and Portfolio branded door sills.

As others have asked, are you sure that XKR is a Portfolio?
From the picture you posted the brakes don’t look like Alcons. There should be small crescents on the rotors, red calipers, 14” front rotors, and separate parking brake calipers on the rear.
The paint appears lighter then Celestial Black. The vertical trim pieces on the rear edge of the front fenders should be aluminum. The wheels do not appear to be Cremonas.
I would look through this thread… https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...egistry-125919 and compare the details to the car you’re considering buying.
I have a 2008 XKR Portfolio coupe. It does not have ACC, nor did it come with the original Cremonas. Best of luck with your purchase.

I"m going for it, picking it up tomorrow! He says it's a 2007...I'll take it.
Pic attached. BTW, the spun aluminum dash...that's portfolio only correct?
He just mentioned that portfolio is not on "door sills"...
The rotor and brakes look "stock" not portfolio version.
Hmmmm
Attached pic.
Maybe not a portfolio
Another pic of possible portfolio imposter...

Congrats on the new XKR. It looks fantastic.
For what it’s worth, I don’t think it’s a Portfolio. It does not have Alcon brakes or Cremona wheels. In those pictures, the paint does not appear to be Celestial Black. (I would check the paint code listed on the sticker in the driver’s side door jamb to confirm.) The aluminum interior inserts don’t appear to be the spun aluminum type found on the Portfolio. As you stated, it does not have the “Portfolio” door sills. Do you know if it has the Bowers and Wilkins sound system?
I don’t think that diminishes the car at all. I only mention it in case the seller is trying to add a “Portfolio” premium to his asking price.

What's the VIN?
This free VIN Decoder will tell you if it's a Portfolio.

How do I know? I just checked mine, and it worked. Redacted for privacy:
A Moderator should add this useful tool to the Stickies for all the Jaguar models. Note that the X150 Forum Stickies already include this VIN Decoder:

So, I bought the 2007 XKR Convertible today! We've come to the agreement it's not a portfolio.
The calipers are not red.
The owner mistakenly thought it was a portfolio.
I'm very happy with it.
The top is still the one issue i have yet to resolve.
Haven't had a chance to work it much yet.
Will get on it tomorrow and report back.
I will check the Vin with your link...
Thx for all your help.

I know the VIN is correct as the Jaguar online service history is correct.

Not all 2008 XKR Portfolio convertibles were identified by the body code 46 in the VIN number, including mine. My VIN has a body code of 44 (SAJWA44C989xxxxxxx). I know if at least one other that was built in the same month and factory that also has the 44 code.
I can remember there was an old thread that discussed this, but I was unable to find it.
