Hello everyone! ![Smile](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Does anyone have experience measuring the thickness of a paint coating?
My readings throughout the car in the XKR model (color: "midnight mica", paint code: "PEF") are between 120um-180um (4.7mils-7.1mils).
Does this indicate the original paint coating or the elements being repainted?

Its seems like it is factory paint. Normally if a car has been repainted it will have a paint thickness of 400-500microns or more.
Check the door sills, as this where the thinness part of the paint is typically found.
The Jags paint is very soft so go easy with any aggressive paint correction as 120microns is pretty thin to start with.
