I'm in the 'no issues / love the car' category. I bought it with 9k miles 3-1/2 years ago, use it as a daily driver, semi-crossed country with it twice (Ohio to Colorado; Colorado to Georgia), now have 37k on it - and have had no issues. Solid, clean, quiet, and powerful.
Good luck with your decision.

Well, I wouldn't say I'm in the "no issues" crowd. I'm in the "hurts so good" crowd!
My XKR has had its fair share of issues in the last year/5k miles. Persistent electrical gremlins, turn signal stalk went bad, right rear axle needed to be replaced (clicking sound), thermostat went bad as well. Now I seem to be having an alternator cold-weather issue.
However, almost all of these problems are things that I learned to live with and accept. A Jaguar is not going to be a perfectly reliable machine! But I guarantee you that compared to the Germans, this is a pretty darn reliable car.

With every Jaguar model, the introductory year tends to have issues which are either fixed, redesigned as part of on-going development or ignored completely by the manufacturer.
For example, on the previous XK8 model the tensioners were redesigned four times before Jaguar finally got it right. In contrast, the throttle body was never resolved and for many years Jaguar chose to replace under warranty rather than commit to a redesign.
If you compare the previous model XK8/XKR with the XK/XKR, this current generation was considerably more reliable from introduction. You won't find threads in this forum about engine rebuilds, transmission failures, suspension failures, endless module problems etc as happens in the other forum. Not a bad record considering the first XK's are approaching eight years old.
Although the 2008/09 has inevitably benefited from Jaguar's experience with the 2006/07, reliability has more to do with how the PO has looked after the car. A careless owner has had plenty of time to ruin a 2013 by now!

IMHO The 07 and up XK has been one of the most successful introductions of a new vehicle Jag has ever had. Reliability wise, any manufacturer of performance GT cars would be proud to have done so well. Most particularly the engine, super charged & normal aspirated, is becoming famous for trouble free performance.
My 7 year old car has had 2 issues (knock on wood). A leaky rt. front shock and an ash tray cover the won't detent open are the only failures I can recall. We get a lot of pissing and moaning on this forum from the drag strip, boy racer and hyper critical crowd but one can only smile and discount such noise.
Read some of the stuff on other auto forums if don't believe the above. Sadly, the same can't be said about all Jag product introductions but the current XKs are outstanding by any objective comparison.

I've had 15,000 miles of trouble free motoring in my 2007 XK coupe. Routine maintenance only. As reliable as my numerous Lexus' (or is Lexi) I've owned. More reliable than my BMW 328i. More reliable than the Mercedes I've owned.
Besides routine oil changes I've replaced air filter, cabin filter, battery, rear rotors and pads all round. I changed the pads to the Akebono ceramics. Highly recommend them for pre 2010 models. Great performance and dust reduced by 90%. Overall total costs over 2 years for maintenance and parts under $1,000.

Had the AC Drain issue and that was $900. Transmission pan leaked, that was almost $500. some smaller issues like hood sensors and an electronic module, but both were cheap. 30k miles and third set of tires. Rears pads were replaced and will change all the brakes to oem rotors and akebono ceramic pads when the fronts need replacing.

This is just a "Get from point A to B" kind of car. Daily driver and not aggressive. Previous owners are pensioners. Tires wear in the center and actual tread depth can be deceiving to the eye. Use Pilot Sport AS

I have an 07 coupe with interior details raised to 08 level (window switches/w wood panels, wiper/turn signals with chrome inserts). Otherwise, entirely as it left the factory. Problems? NONE. Not a single thing - but I use a CTEK battery maintainer. A beautiful, reliable, comfortable, luxurious, fast, and well-built car. Why do people still buy Mercedes and the ubiquitous BMWs? A mystery to me.
