2007 XKR Says "cruise not available"
I just posted same in another forum. I didn't see this forum until now.
I just bought 2007 XKR only 1850 miles. Beautiful automobile. I tried out the Adaptive Cruise Control and it says "Cruise Not Available". That happens about 9 out of 10 times and the other time it works beautiful. Is there something I could check on this malfunction? I don't see any obstruction in front. All else seems great.
Thanks in advance.

RE: 2007 XKR Says "cruise not available"
Per my previous post:
Car is 2007 XK Coupe nearly one year old. Since new we have had random cutting out of the cruise control with the red warning "driver intervention" triangle appearing. Cruise cuts out and wil not work again for 15 minutes or (maybe) turning off engine which is a pain since you are on the highway.
I took it to a dealer in California - they said it was the radar horn and replaced it. Seemed OK but then problems re-occurred on next long trip.
So I took it to another dealer in Canada and they coincidentally had been the FIRST Jaguar dealer to discover the fix - which is now a Jaguar approved Warranty fix. It all relates to the colour of the car (silver cars are more susceptible)the angle of the radar horn (must be moved 1 degree from spec) the softwre and the control modules. So as my Public Service Announcement, here is the stuff off my repair invoice (free of course) that you can throw at your dealer:
889940 reconfigure the speed control module
869380 update 7 modules X150 Enhancement program (IP11)
Perform software enhancement program K013 outstanding per DDW 05-12-08
Replace C2P16704 Spring and C2P15674

I have a 2007 XKR (Silver) and get this warning, but also have the airbag warning light on and none of the switches now work on my steering wheel. Dealer told me there is a circular connector around the steering column that fails and this is the cause.
Now trying to find a decent price to get it replaced - no surprise: not covered by the warranty! I'm in Northern Cal. for anyone that might be able to help me....

Had the same problem with my 2007 XK. New battery fixed it.
As others on this forum have reported. Many electrical gremlins in this car are eliminated by replacing the battery. Computer is very sensitive to low voltage at start up. I'm going to assume replacing the battery every couple of years.
Some say the new gel type batteries last longer. Will get one of them next time.

I really need some help here - I'm 2 hours in and all I've managed is to disconnect the battery. Can't work out how to remove the steering column; although the internet has plenty of hints about how to handle the airbag. Can anyone send me the service manual page for replacing the 'clockspring'?

In my 2007 service manual I find it in STEERING COLUMN (57.40.01).
Or another way: Go to CHASSIS and then the under that STEERING SYSTEM and then down to (57.40.01).
When I first bought my 2007 used car, I noticed that airbag light would come on and stay on after turning the steering wheel. If I turned the car off and back on it would go off and stay off til I made a sharp turn in one direction or the other. After straightening the car out and driving straight the light stayed on til I repeated the "car off, back on" and if I stayed in a straight line it would stay off. After a couple of weeks it went away. Unfortunatley almost a year later it started coming back on. I might fix this, might not. I know I can make it stay off as mentioned above. NOT battery related.
It also mentions a CLOCKSPRING SPECIAL TOOL and how failing to use it may result in damage to the vehicle. I've never done this myself, so I don't have any hints as how to bypass this Special Tool.
