The airconditioning drain hose is prone to blocking which causes water in the passenger footwell. There's a TSB covering the issue and repair procedure but it's a 3 hour job since it requires the removal of half the dashboard to gain access.

I had the very same problem about a month ago with water leaking from the passenger side dashboard area on my '08 XK. The dealer unclogged the air-conditioner drain hose. It was done under factory warranty. As the previous poster pointed out, it was a fairly big job.

Default Me too

Hey Noob here and just bought a 2007 XKR. FDrove it home 1250 miles only to suffer from this water leak. Bad thing is while on my drive I went over of miles for the warrantee. Now I guess I will need to do it or pay out the nose. Does anyone know the TSB. For that matter does anyone know a source for factory repair manuals?

Thanks! Loving what I am reading here.

the TSB is not the best or the cheapest fix.

Here you go. I might suggest purchasing a subscription to ALLDATADIY if you plan to do most repairs yourself.

Default Plan B

I'm thinking maybe there's an easier way to fix this clogged drain tube. Instead of removing the dash and replacing the drain tube (which is very labor-intensive and not an easy DIY job), what about using a shot of compressed air up the drain tube to free the blockage? I presume the drain tube is easily accessable from under the car. Any harm in trying?

Default leaking a/c

Got an '07 XKR in the shop for this problem. First time I've seen it.
Thanks all for the info on the TSB. Brutal: What's the cheaper easier way?

Thanks
John

Just had this done to my 2008 XKR Portfolio, tech told me there have been 2 revisions to the TSB and the solution involves a new style gasket at the drain opening in the evaporator housing. They don't have to pull the dash out complete but still very involved, took one day and was done under warranty.

Default A/C water

Well, just got my 07 xkr back from the dealer (out of warranty). They took the dash out and put a larger hose on the end (so I am told). $520 later no more leak :-) Kinda wish the guy I bought it from would have noticed this water issue about 1500 miles ago so it would have been covered under warranty.

I've not had the problem, however...

Any reader not under warranty within 100 miles of Matthews, NC might consider contacting Duncan at www.touringcarinc.com who recently described a much simpler, less expensive, relief of the leak symptom (perhaps fix/cure?) on a 2007 XKR. I don't recall the details, but the customer had reportedly been quoted circa $1,000 by a Jag dealer before bringing the problem to Duncan.

Touring Car is a German car specialist, not Jag. Please do not distract Duncan from the shop floor by seeking free advice from a distance.

For me the dealer went via the dash. It hasn't leaked since. They said they put in a larger tube to fix the blockage.

Good luck to you?

I had a water leak in 2009. It was caused by a disconnected tube (A/C?) under the carpet on the left side of the front passenger side well.

Hope that helps.
