2007XK - Rear brake shop drawing
I have a request to one of the forum techs. Can you post the detailed shop drawing of the rear brake caliper and pad arrangement. Here's why.
About 2 mths ago I rolled back the clock and decided to do some DIY service after getting a qoute of approx $1,000 from my dealer to renew battery and replace the rear rotors and all the brake pads. I used to do this stuff all the time but havent had the need for many years and plus my son wanted to see how it's done. I decided to go ceramic. Very straightforward job and no different to any other car. Brake dust is virtually eliminated, no noticeable difference in performance, all previous creaking from the front brakes at crawling speed gone and I'm generally very pleased - especially with the cost saving. However when braking from around 60mph I have a drone which I'm sure comes from the rear. Now I know the ceramics are harder but I'm wondering if I have them installed correctly. I know that sounds dumb but one of the pads has a small 'spring' attached to it and I didn't note which side of the caliper/rotor this pad was on as the old ones dropped out as I removed the caliper. Hence my request for the shop drawing to check if I have it right. BTW I used plenty of caliper grease and cleaned them up real nice.
Any advice welcome.

I used to get a crazy amount of brake dust with my 04 G35 Coupe until I changed to Akebono ProActs. The dust virtually disappeared. The stopping lost a little bite but was not enough to be an issue. The pads show almost no wear after 30,000 miles with them. I've noticed quite a bit of brake dust driving just a few miles with the XK.

The brake dust issue has been brought up on numerous forums for a long time. Keeping the wheels clean is a constant battle. I've thought about switching pads but the weaker stopping power of the ceramics has kept me from doing it. Dow anybody know hoe much stopping power is lost with the switch?
