Hi folks....I'm changing my xj8 after 15years of ownership...and fancy an XK...a 4 litre model. Can anyone give me any advice re this model...what to look for....good points and bad points etc. Basically I want to know if its worth spending up to 16k on one of these. Much appreciated...Dave

A 4.0 XK8 or XKR (X100 shape) would be 2002 or earlier. The 4.2 came out in 2003, and the same engine carried on into the new-shape XK/XKR (X150) in 2006. It lasted until 2009, when the 5.0 arrived.
If you're after the 2002 & earlier model, hop over to the X100 part of the forum for advice. The main issues on those cars are the timing-chain tensioners and the double-skinned floor under the front seats that acts as a moisture trap and source of corrosion. But others can give you more detail.
