Default 2008 XK 4.2 Top Latch will not release to manual lower and reset

New guy Marty here. I'm less than a week into the new to me used Jag XK. The dealership didn't know the procedure to lower the top and after a couple of attempts the warning of top not latched was there in red looking at me before I bought. A quick look on internet found a Jaguar forum thread that told me I could fix this so I went on and bought the car for a good price. Tightened the top Allen a few turns until snug and drove it home with 1/4 windows down and warning on the dash.
Found a card with original owner (only one) name in the handbook. Called and got all the history info and his confirmation that the top function was good.
So I'm getting well read and trying to reset but not being successful in breaking the front top free by lifting after Allen key loosened from snug 10 ccw turns. I've also backed off the pump in the boot 1.25 CCW turns. Not sure how much lift pressure I can apply or where or other tricks to free up the top latches.
Any older threads on this or other suggestions from the experts that have succeeded before me?
Cheers,
Marty

The complete TOP RESET procedure is clearly indicated in the User Manual. It takes about five minutes, and a bit easier with a second person.

Found a great procedure detail that said to turn the Allen 20ccw turns to manually release the top. It took me about 30 turns. The handbook doesn’t have this detail and was my concern of creating a problem with too many ccw turns
Now I’m on to reset per the expert detailed instructions.
Thanks for the quick reply’s and help.
Marty.
