2008 XK - help upgrading Navigation/iPhone system

Above 45 mph with the windows down and the convertible top lowered - yes.
All kidding aside, I have no clue. My model year and/or vehicle did not have that cooled seating option available on it. I have not seen an icon for that feature under the HVAC control section, though. There may - or may not - be an option to enable that setting buried somewhere deeper in the screen settings. Perhaps @peterv8 or @Sean W have some insight here.

IDK how I missed this thread. This is awesome. I was looking at the other thread that got closed ... made me want to buy a Navtool unit
With this one... is there an option for 're-circulated' air? On the stock unit this is the button just below the 'auto' button on the climate control.
In the future, I can envision a jail-broken iPhone in a split-screen setup with 1 app on the top and an OBDII app on the bottom displaying ETC temp, boost, battery voltage, etc..
Dream or reality????

Yes, though the procedure to do so is rather complicated. I've included a short tutorial below:
All joking aside, those of us that have taken the plunge so far are still learning about all of the setting options available to us. Some are pretty straight forward, and some are buried in sub-menus and less obvious to the user (just like any other tablet or electronic device).
As summer returns to the frozen tundra, we'll be spending more time in our vehicle with the new screens are are bound to discover more capabilities and limitations as we use them more. We'll try to keep the interested parties updated as those insights occur.

Ralph just a quick couple of thoughts when you engage with the installers. Take the pics off of post 173 and give it to them. It will save time. You're probably already on it but there are no instructions beyond the pics and the video jahummer posted in post 103.
Also, you probably want to have them feed the USB cables - one through each side and tucked under the center console. They lay in there nicely. I have the TPMS receiver laying along the passenger side connected to on USB port and the other on the drivers side connected to my lightning cable.

OK putting her back under wraps until spring.
A few thoughts on what I like. It appears to have the same features as OEM less Valet parking. TPMS is a buy up option but is a pretty good system. (see posts 242-245 if interested) Ralph will let us know about seat cooling and A/C didn't test it. Phone connects quickly, CarPlay works great, assume Android Auto does too.
I'm going to run SDD on it once the Spring comes so I can see any issues. Since I had the battery disconnected for so long, my ECU/TCM will need to re- learn.
I've grown accustomed to the look now and now prefer it over OEM. Weird for me because I initially thought it was overwhelming and ugly. I like most everything about it which I've already written about in this thread, but here's what I don't like to date.
It doesn't shut down, it sleeps. That's a battery drain, though I don't know how much. There is no power off button. I'm looking into a couple of macro apps. I can get it to shut down in test using Macrodroid, but not in reality - will look at it in the Spring. This is just stupid because it only takes a minute to boot up from shutdown. We should at least have the option.
For now, I can select reboot and once I set reboot, I shut the car off as soon as the screen goes blank. None of this is critical if it's a daily driver but in sleep mode all winter? Nope.
Another option is to run a switch/relay from the power source to the head unit but that doesn't allow the tablet to shut down properly, so not a good option.
Temp is in Celsius. Can't change it without root access and root access voids the warranty. The vendor sent my question to the "engineer" when they were "surprised" the key to change it didn't do anything. We shall see but I won't look at it until the two year warranty runs out. This isn't news to those following this thread though.
Most of the Launcher is locked. Frustrating, as you can't swap out the music player on the front page of the launcher. I don't like the built in music player because you can't create playlists.
It's Android 10 and with that, a few apps don't play well. So with new tech comes different problems:
See post 253 on my input on the various launchers and how they behave in Android 10.
Torque Pro has to be manually launched (because the autostart app won't work unless you can shut down the tablet). With it, if you want more than one floating widget, you need Torque Dashboard. Torque dashboard doesn't play well in Android 10 and I assume Ian Hawkins is spending his time in Fiji nowadays. Torque dashboard loses permission each time you shut down for more than 15 minutes or so - I need to first launch Torque Pro, then launch dashboard, grant permission - then the floating widgets come back. A project for spring. A PIA and I only care about this on very hot days/ long trips but I want automation.

In regards to the launcher: I always replace the launcher with a different one. I am currently using Car Launcher Pro in all 3 of my cars.

I cannot speak to the ashtray lid, but the J-gate is super easy. You pop off the trim piece that it's embedded in, unplug the start button (and in my case the speed limiter button as well), flip it over and press the springs. It slides right out. On the trim piece, I start from the side closest to the center console and work my way towards the dash. When it's free of the retention clips, I slide it "back", then lift up & out. Easy peasy.

In regards to the sleep mode: Have you looked for settings to adjust it? Most of the time they come with options for autosleep to be off, or on for a certain amount of time, ranging from hours to days, or always on.
In regards to the launcher: I always replace the launcher with a different one. I am currently using Car Launcher Pro in all 3 of my cars.

Regarding the lack of power off on the tablet, this may be a non issue. I've never owned a tablet and I thought of them as I do laptops/desktops. They don't go through extensive shut downs and aren't prone to system failures and those that are battery powered can remain in sleep mode for days with only a tiny amount of battery draw. They launch very quickly. I'm still working on a solution, because I can and I want to:-) My goal is to have an option for overnight or longer so it will probably be an app.
As far as Auto Launchers go, I've used them and reviewed them on this machine - largely unimpressed but think AGAMA performs the best and allows for floating widgets (Torque Pro Coolant and battery level readings) without looking cluttered on the screen but I digress - see post 253.
