Default 2008 XK - A unique exhaust question

Going against the grain and most people’s desire for more sound I would like to subdue the lower rpm, wide open throttle exhaust sound. (100rpm~3500 rpm)

I absolutely love high rpm, higher pitched exhaust sounds.

Adding to the fact that I would prefer the pitch to change I don’t want to sacrifice any of the somewhat limited power I already have.

I doubt whether anyone has done this so I guess we speculate…if I add an xpipe to my existing xk exhaust might I gain what I’m looking for?

Where should this x be placed?

Thanks for any thoughts

wj

Save your money and don't modify your exhaust system. To get the sound you enjoy, simply drive your XK in manual mode with the paddle shifters and keep the tachometer above 3500 RPMs. Sure, that'll use more gas but it'll still cost less spending money on exhaust mods that probably won't produce the results you want unless you drive at higher RPMs. And you'll be in the torque sweet spot for better acceleration.

Just my .

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the dynamic exhaust open when you place the car in sports mode? If I'm right on that, the easiest way to get a quieter car at lower RPM is simply to turn sport mode off. Of course if you're driving at full throttle the exhaust opens regardless.

Consider a valved exhaust if you want it quiter at low rpm and the full effect when in higher rpm's. Personally, I don't think the XK is a loud exhaust car in general.

Replace your resonator with an X pipe and your sound will indeed get higher and less low rumble.
I did this prior to doing a muffler delete, I was happy with the sound tone, just wanted more.

I Changed my back box to Mina Gallery it was ok, then I eliminated resonator and added x pipe, and i still wasn't happy, switch out cats to 100 cell cats with 3" pipe and added valve to Mina Gallery muffler to make loud to louder and im finally happy! 😃 😊 😆

3" piping

Valve added with remote

A few weeks back I changed my exhaust back to x-pipe, I did dB readings on both (stock) and (x-pipe) with no significant changes in decibel readings however with the x-pipe there was a rich high pitched note to the exhaust.

The best way to describe it would be a cross planed crank sound (stock exhaust) vs flat planed crank sound (x-pipe)

That is what I would like to have. Is this a simple X section welded in the existing exhaust? Or
Was the front resonator removed and an entire section fabricated? Maybe an image, please.
