2008 xkr headlight problem
I own a 2008 Jaguar XKR. I'm having a extremely baffling problem with my front passenger headlight assembly. It all started when I turned the right turn signal on and got a warning light stating that it wasn't working.. I changed the bulb and nothing happened I kept getting the warning and then I started getting warnings that the Adaptive lighting system had failed. Overtime sometimes the headlight would work and sometimes it would not other times the turn signal would work other times it would not. There were days when nothing would work and then days where everything worked. It got to the point where it just quit all together not a single light comes on. My mechanic has looked at it and is unsure what the problem is. A new assembly from Jaguar is $3,000 which is ridiculous but thats another issue. Does anyone have a clue what the real problems might be? Please don't say replace the bulbs I have and they work sometimes and they don't work other times so that is not the problem. I put a new headlight balast in and it didn't change anything. There looks like there is a second balast or something in ther as well. Does any one know what that does?
Does anyone know if you but a used headlight assembly from an xk that doesn't have adaptive lighting, if that will work or will it throw a warning light.

Most likely a ground problem, I had the problem with my driver side with a corroded bolt/lug. The passenger side ground (for the passenger side light) is accessed by taking the wheel off, as the G06 is farther back you may need to remove the wheel arch cover.
G06AR Ground point 1 RH side of engine compartment FRONT RIGHT
G06BL Ground point 1 RH side of engine compartment FRONT RIGHT
G06BR Ground point 1 RH side of engine compartment FRONT RIGHT

Very well could be a faulty module , swap the modules over from the light that does work...if no change you can rule that out .... if fully functional even better you know what it is.
In order to swap modules over both headlights need to be removed, it's quite easy no bumper off or anything like that

IF you've got the AFS system fitted, you must use AFS headlamps on both left and right or the headlamps will not function correctly.
I believe your issue's likely failed wiring insulation as noted above and you've got wires inside the assemblies shorting. Time to remove the headlamp, easy to do and look inside the rear cover and inspect the wiring. Several threads about this on these forums.

a single wire could be the one that causes this. Lets say the insulation on your ground wire is shot, that would basically make your headlamp unit inoperable. When you expect a manufacturer to be perfect and never failing, you’re gonna be very disappointed. How old are you? You sound very young or very old, like 97 yrs old. There are ways of finding out whats wrong, but it requires actual inspection. Not some magical internet answer,

Thank u so much for the info. You are right it is the ground wire. Looked behind the wheel and it was just hanging there. Taking the wheel off tomorrow for closer look. Looks like it might have broken off from the frame. Not sure what to do if thats the case. Again thanks for your help.
