Default 2009 Portfolio - 4.2L or 5.0L?

Just curious if any of the 2009 XKR Portfolios had the 5.0L engine, or did they all come with the 4.2L engine?

Ok, Thanks for that.
This is what I thought, but I see a for sale ad listing one as a 5.0L 510 HP 2009 car. So I believe the owner does not know what he has.

The 5L was also available in the US in 2009...as a 2010MY. In the US, 2007-2009 MYs were the 4.2 and 2010-2015 MYs with the 5L. In the UK, 2006-2008 MYs were the 4.2 and 2009-2014 MYs were the 5L.

The model year usually starts in September or October of the previous year. First customer deliveries of the XK were earlier than that in some markets but they were still referred to as a 2010 MY regardless of the market sold in to.

This is from the UK Press Release from April 2009:

MY10 JAGUAR XK
The New 2010 XK RANGE at a glance
The new generation of Jaguar XK sports coupe and convertible has all-new engines giving more power and performance with greater efficiency; revised exterior styling and interior enhancements...

This is always a great way to confuse the hell out of people. All model year cars start building the year before, it would be hard to give someone a 2010 car if you started building in 2010. When cars are listed for sale they are not listed by the build date, is by the Model Year, that is what is on the Title, the sales paperwork, everything.

To the OP, if you are in the US, like has been said, if the car is listed as a 2009 then it is a 4.2. If 2010 then a 5.0. If you are in Europe subtract one year.

Well to be exact the model year is not changing by the market, the exact cutoffs can be seen from the VINs

2006.5MY From (V) B00379
2007MY From (V) B06784
2008MY from (V) B20075
2009MY from (V) B27987
2010MY from (V) B32753 5.0L starts here.
2011MY from (V) B38854
2012MY from (V) B44940
2013MY from (V) B48620

They might have been called different in the US, but the specification of the car is as the list above.

I have mentioned this before but just to add to the confusion I came across a 2008 (built Oct 2008) Salsa Red 5.0L XKR Convertible on the forecourt of one of the local dealers a year or so ago.

Topix confirms the build date and engine and the VIN is B31936 which is prior to the official VIN start but that is listed as a 2010MY as well so there may be more around!

Doesn't surprise me, that car is probably a development mule or pre-production test car, media car or so-on.
