Default 2009 XKR water pumps

Just booked my car in for the valley hose job - they quoted for a new water pump. Not aware of any complaints regarding the 2009 and lower years water pump issues but thought it was a good
idea to have it replaced although it's a bit more labour on top of the valley hose job.

My Jag has around 90 K kilometers on her. Not sure what other owners have experienced with water pump longevity.

Water pumps are relatively cheap (although with genuine Jaguar ones that will probably be a relative term) so it tends to be standard practice to replace them if the coolant system has to be drained down for other reasons.

I had a low-level leak from the pump. Had it replaced and and the garage floor is spotless again.

What is the state of the other cooling hoses near the front of the engine? If they need to be replaced in the future or water pump eventually starts to leak, I’d wait as water pump is pretty accessible unlike the valley hoses. Water pumps don’t usually fail catastrophically.
Waiting does mean an additional coolant drain and fill though.

All the visible hoses look good V7, but seeing as they are draining the coolant I figured do the water pump too.

👍 Certainly won’t hurt and another worry gone.

Mine has 74k miles on it. Had the pump replaced while I was getting the rear control arms replaced. It was a simple job, compared to getting the valley hoses replaced, so I'd recommend it.

Had a slow leak via the pump which never registered as a leak on the ground or smell. One summer day the car shut off while on the road. It was overheating. Replaced the pump, valley hoses and its been fine ever since. Ive also installed a wifi obdii reader and setup a couple of digital gauges with threshold alarms on a small tablet so that Im able to monitor the temperature. I dont ever want to reach boiling point.
