According to PP video, with upper pulley, cats, tune and exhaust........they were able to dyno 508HP. I haven't dynoed my car but if this dyno is right, I should be running the same or more as I have an additional lower pulley and air intake kit. The car does feel stronger over stock but with my SOTP dyno........my stock SL still feel much stronger once the turbos kick in. I think it's the 738TQ. Hopefully I can get the Eurocharged ECU tune to bump it up to 820TQ or the Renntech tune (cost alot more).

Here's the PP vid if you haven't seen it yet........

So I test drove a Black 2010 XKR with white stitching. All I can say is WOW! That thing was an absolute monster and everything I was hoping and expecting. It was poised and polished yet with accurate steering and a decent sound for stock.

Initially the sales rep drove it off the lot and my wife squeezed in the back. He moderately got on it but I could tell he hadn't fully unleashed 510hp and 461 lb.ft torque. Then he let me drive it and wife got in the front. Now I was initially thinking - in fact I commented to the sales rep that I was once shopping M6 and if the XKR had the M6 powertrain I would have owned one a long time ago. I have been smitten by the sound and endless power of the M6 V10.

But when I took the wheel of the XKR and got on it I was blown away by the effortless pull, rapid shifts and super fast revving engine. The car was definitely a perfect balance. I then began compairing a 997 to the XKR to see which looked best. Stock for stock the XKR looks better. But when a 997 is lowered on nice wheels and the fenders look more pronoucned and it looks nasty. But then I imagined that a lowered XKR on nice wheels would be even better.

At this point I'm heavily leaning toward a 2010 XKR. I'm just concerned about this particular car since it's black and I wonder if I would constantly be worrying.

Did you switch on "Dynamic" mode to open the exhaust system valves? The noise is glorious! I have another car that's black, and while it looks gorgeous when just washed, it's impossible to keep clean looking in most cases. Fine for a sunny day toy, but as a daily driver I'd consider another colour. Then again, I seem to feel the need to wash the silver XKR and red car just about everytime I drive them also. Black is probably the most striking when clean and swirl-free...so good luck with that decision!

Glad you drove one...and you probably knew everything you needed to within a couple of blocks. I knew before I even got in it. Let us know how you make out. Happy hunting!

I'm not sure if I opened the exhaust. I barely figured out how to turn off the traction control. Because when I pressed the button nothing lit up on the dash or the button. For confirmation, what opens the exhaust and turns off traction?

Is it the racing flag?

That's the one! Hold until the green light illuminates and then prepare to be impressed.

So I went back and drove it. I pressed and the light lit a yellow-ish orange but I never saw a green light. It sounded about the same. I must have done something wrong.

I'm still impressed but curious if there is yet another level???

I did the same thing (though with a regular XK, not the R). I found that prices had come down to the point where new 2011s were undercutting the used market for '10s / '11s. Throw in the free scheduled maintenance on the '11 model year and it kind of made it a no brainer for me.

Good luck!
