2010 XKR Convertible
Drove a 2010 XKR convertible today, while getting my car serviced; all I can say is "Wow".
510 horses really make this baby scoot. Only thing I did not like was the rotating bezel shifter. I like the traditional shifter (keep my hand on it while I drive - guess it is a kickback to the old stick shift days) and it just looks better having a shifter sticking up.
I am sure I could get used to the rotating shifter (it IS nice), but again, I just prefer the looks of a traditional gated shifter...

The specs show a little difference (better 2010) but I was surprised at how little for all the extra horsepower that you are getting...I have seen 0-60 times everywhere from 4.7-4.9 on the 420hp older R and am seeing 0-60 of 4.6 on the new 510hp....has anyone dynoed the new model vs the old?...I guess it just goes to show you when you get to that edge it is a tough climb that last few feet....

I put different exhausts on mine for a meaner sound and 10 ponies as well as another 15 from an enlarged supercharger pulley. Less than a grand altogether, and really can't tell a staggering difference except for the sound. 420-450 is more than enough.
I also like the shifter on my 07' XKR. The rotary oven dial is cool for the XFR saloon, but it just seems out of place on an XK model. I still hope that Jaguar will one day wake up and make a proper floor shifter option instead of the flappy paddle, even though it works quite well. I just like to roll through the gears myself. Aston's have them, why can't Jag put them in their cars?

I'm going to have to come out in support of the new shifter. I thought it "looked" fantastic when I bought my XKR but I was not sure about how it would be to use. After 3 months I can say that it is a feature I still really like. To be honest I'm struggling to find things I don't like though....

I am sure it is cool, I just like resting my hand on the shifter. And I would MUCH RATHER have an actual 6 speed manual shifter. I don't care that I could "never be quicker than the computer" Jaguar. Give me a proper gearbox like the E-types had and the Aston Martins have. Come on Jaguar, chop chop. If they did, I would trade Fionna in for one. If I get stationed back in the UK, I may see if Paramount or Arden can install one like they could on the old XK models. Probably wouldn't be "cheap as chips" as my brother in law from London would say though.
