Then you were on the money from the get go.
Will you be using BAT or other to sell yours on?

It would appear that ralphwg who guessed "between 28,000 to 30,000" is closest with his "range" estimate.

I'm going with Cars & bids for a number of reasons. I watched a couple of XKR models go through C&B recently with decent interest on cars that did not reach their reserve so I know there are buyers on that site looking for XKRs. C&B charges zero dollars to the seller and only 4.5% to the buyer. And since my car is in the midwest, I've noticed that BAT seems to have a west coast leaning...see how well the California based 2011 XK did as an example. I figured west coast buyers would be less interested in shipping my car 2500 miles.

Thumbs up

Ok, so it would appear that BetaSteve is the OFFICIAL WINNER of the guess the highest bid auction contest. He has been awarded a Guinness or comparable like beverage...since some folks don't care inexplicably for Guinness. All that is necessary to collect his award is to travel from the Pacific Northwest to the Ozark hill country of Missouri...airfare NOT included. Congratulations!!

Thanks. My auction should kick off in the next four or five days or so. And re your guess, in a "normal" market your initial #s would not have been far off from reality. But we are living in the non-reality of never never land economics!!

You may be kidding, but recently I watched a 2010 XKR 75th Anniversary Edition with 66K miles in questionable condition on Cars &Bids bid to $30,500 and NOT meet the seller's reserve. So, be careful what you wish for ........ I should be so lucky on mine!

How about you send a six pack of Smithwicks to the PNW? I’ll get XKR off four post lift and park it on the lawn, with the Olympic Mountains in the background, and enjoy the gazebo with any other Jag owners in the area! Red XKR flanked by British Racing Green and Opalescent Silver Grey XKE would give us two each and some really good picture opportunities…

Meanwhile.....
This car (which I've driven) has dropped $2,000. I know for a fact they'd go down another $1,000. So if you're in the market for a $29,000 XKR:

Many years ago I worked for quite a time in the automobile industry and I recall the advice an old timer provided. We were talking about car values and he explained, "Cars are like you and me. They have birthdays except like you and me as they get older ( mileage) they become worth less while we become worth more."

As another data point for the state of the market, I’m in the process of purchasing an ‘08 XKR Portfolio coupe with 60k miles for $23,500. The dealer is taking care of a few items, and I should pick it up by the end of the week. The car had only been listed for a day and hadn’t even made it out of the service department or been detailed when I committed to buy it. When I was signing the papers, another potential buyer was asking to see it. The dealer is a DFW Lexus dealer with a JLR dealership in the same auto group.

An international comparison from the ROW:

For XKRs on offer in the German market, see here, www.mobile.de, or here, www.autoscout24.de. You might be surprised by some of the asking prices…
