Not to argue, but I use mine (coupe) as a daily driver, and I'll often do the family and/or grog shopping as well. In the hatch it is slightly smaller than the XKR (I used to fit 3 cases of sparkling and a carton of beer in the XKR - the f type takes 2 cases of sparkling and the beer - I have to empty the third case and tuck the bottles around.

But then that is with the spare wheel out - no-one tells you but you have to take the spare wheel out and rely on the tyre goo.

 

I like the wheels on this one much more.

 

Interesting. Is that using or not using the backseat on the XKR? I'd think you could definitely do 3 cases of wine and a case of beer in the backseat alone and still have the trunk empty. GF and I just brought a painting back from San Diego - slid it behind the front seats. (We had luggage in trunk.) Couldn't have done it in an F, I don't think. My stepfather had a Caddy XLR, same issue. Big two seater with no storage space in the passenger compartment. Made me nuts. Used to have to carry a bag of groceries on my lap if I went shopping with him.

Also, blew a tire recently at night in the middle of nowhere. Out of cel coverage range. Was very happy for that spare...

 

The F-Type while a fun sports car will never be a daily driver for me. Ergo, the XKR-S would be my choice between the two. I had an F Type R courtesy of Jaguar North America for four days right after they came out. Using it as a daily driver convinced me to stay with XKR/XK series.

 

I think it's a beautiful car, although you could certainly buy an XKR or XKR175 for a fraction of that price, spend an extra $700.00 on a pulley and tune (Eurocharged special, as I did), $200.00 on an X-pipe installation, and end up with more power than an XKR-S, most of its characteristics, a less aggressive body style, and about $40K left in your pocket. there are beautiful, very low mile 2012-13 models available, and some brand new 2013's with no miles still around that one can make a phenomenal deal on. Ask Ralph (above, previous post).

 

One more very small consideration which probably isn't a factor in Canada, but... my XKR is the first car I've ever owned with cooled seats. It has quickly become the "luxury feature" I appreciate the most. I don't think I'll ever go back. Don't think those sport seats are cooled...

 

all so true, but the looks of the S differentiates it from the crowd and draws one too. The best the company had to offer in the year they made it...

 

The RS is what drew me to Jaguar, and yes get it you will not regret it. I couldnt swing the XKR-S at the time but if I could I would have. I got the XKR but still wanted the RS, just something about the look of the car I'll always love.

 

With the cooled seats I thought I would miss them in the SVR and I think I've missed them once, but forgot in a minute. I personally find the sport seats more comfortable on longer drives, but some don't care for them. Just have to try them out on a hot day, and try to take it on a 30-45 minute drive(including siting in traffic) to see if you like them.

my only hesitation with the xkr-s is the fear of it feeling outdated sooner at least from the inside. but that car is just amazing i cant stop dreaming about it.

 

BUY IT FFS !

Our XKRS had 44.000 km done when we bought it - just check if all the service schedules have been done - the car car is fantastic and has way more road presence than an F-Type !

Btw those polished wheels look very good !!!

PS. The price is a bargain ! Get a 2 year JLR approved guaranty with the car for your freedom of mind

 

I did three Boston winters with all season's. Tires were limiting in some situations. I don't think with snow tires I would've had an issue.

The only "issue" in cold winter was the door latches. They can be quite sticky in below freezing temps and door won't close; just bounces back open! I had to use a cord around the inside door pull until the car heated up enough for the latch to move. Had my Jag indy specialist look at it a few times; nothing he could do. Heat gun would speed it up.

 

If you want it, then do it. I've just bought a XKR 75 and it is amazing. It is the best car I've ever driven for comfort, speed, cost and looks...and a limited edition to 😃 The XKRS will be just as good (or even better) and still produced in relatively low numbers...a future classic in my opinion...

 

Boston - nice! I'm your basic Boston Irish Catholic. Still go back once a month or so.
Every now and then I think about moving. Can't imagine the XKR liking the winters. The only category in which my old SL500 wins a head-to-head comparison, in my opinion- had to do a Canada winter for a month, and the SL was just fine up there.

Very sweet cars both. A few considerations. Winters up here in the Greater Toronto Area can be hazardous due to the inexperienced drivers all around, unexpected black ice, and no mandated winter tire use (as in Quebec). That is why I keep my XKR tucked away in winter until the mayhem dies down. The car is too precious to me to allow some bozo to slide into it. I originally planned to drive it year round but realized I couldn't do it so I bought a Chevy Cruze Diesel to get me through the winter instead.

If I were you I would grab that one in Vaughn, negotiate him down as far as you can and let him know you need to save some dough for a winter beater instead of winter tires. Maybe they work in a used Land Rover! (lol)

 

No problem with snow tires. The XK came with a heated windshield option; they must've thought people would be driving it in cold weather. Handling was never an issue; getting the passenger door to stay closed when frigid out was the only kicker!
