Is that a 2021?
So the weather here in Southeastern PA has been decent with no salt on the roads. Last week it was in the mid 40s to low 50s so I've been driving the XK (would much rather drive it at these temperatures than the high 90s).
One evening coming home from the gym I stopped to top it off before I put it back in the garage not knowing the next time I would drive it. As I got out a young guy with kids yelled across the bay "is that a Jag?" I responded and he said how nice it was. I of course thanked him very much and as I was walking around to open the cap he asked me if it was a 2021, I told him it was a 2008 and he was dumbfounded at which I repeated it was a 2008. He literally had no response.
Just reinforces how timeless these cars appear especially to people not familiar with them.

Well done Kongo, although an aficionado (guessing not too many of those stateside) would know the later models have the side gills horizontal
I had similar last week where a guy with two young kids (am guessing 4 & 7) was admiring the car.
So said to him, "In 10yrs when yours aren't talking to you due to social media, then you can drive what you want!" And yes he laughed.
At the weekend when I went into a store an older gentleman was admiring the car, so I said with a BIG grin
"When your oldé (note the old English) enough you'll be able to afford the insurance"
His response
"I'm 52"
I replied "I'm 56 but you must have had a a hard life"
When coming out of same said store a portly man was eyeballing from the other side of the road, the conversation went like this:
Me: "Do you like it?"
Him: "Yes that's proper nice"
Me: "When you're old enough you'll be able to afford the insurance"
Him: "I'm 53"
Me: Well I'm 56 but still have a 31" waist, and in the words of Will Smith" (I was wearing sunglasses and courtesy of the permatan said) "I MAKE THIS LOOK GOOD!"
Your story is far more innocent and my experiences clearly indicate I need to go to charm school

Just after my recent detail/PPF/ceramic coating upgrade, I took the XK out for a drive - destination was a coffee place in Stockton, NJ along the Delaware River. As I parked, a deep blue Alfa Giulia pulled up next to me, the driver heading for the same shop. We were both disappointed to learn the shop was temporarily closed, but got to talking about cars. His was about 2 years old and he asked how old mine was. I said 14 years and he was dumfounded. These cars, if kept well (and Kongo1's is a great example) can still impress even when they become "teenagers." And unlike MarkyUK's imagined future teenagers, they continue to talk to us - and in the best way!

Although I don't get as many comments on my X150 coupe as I do on my X100 'vert, I do get them. Several months ago, I was filling up at a gas station when a young man (I would guess early 20s) came up to me and asked if my car was a new Jaguar model. He apparently was familiar with an F type but not the XK series. I told him no it was 10 years old and had 180,000 miles on it. He asked if it was fast, and I told him with about 600 hp it was quick but relatively heavy, but that I took it to the track often and it held its own. You might as well have hit him over the head with a baseball bat, he was dumbfounded as he peeled his "ricer" out of the driveway. These cars as most Jaguars are timeless in appeal, especially to those of us who own them and still turn around to look as we go into the house every night.

The OP has the same color interior as mine, I am amazed at how well the Jaguar leather is holding up. A testament to quality materials and thoughtful maintenance.

One of the things I've loved about my 11 years with my X100 XKR and 2.5 years with my X150 XKR is that people generally say a quick and nice comment or say nothing at all. You generally get left alone and if not, responses are nice and positive. I think in general, English cars elicit this type of response because they tend to be considered classier and more reserved, basically classic English restrained elegance. I've said it before, I love Italian cars, but certain brands like Ferrari and Lamborghini elicit both lots of attention that can be good or bad. I know tberg has a beautiful Pantera and DeTomaso has a different image and is overall a different perception (a more generally positive one).
The 3 next cars to add (I'm replacing my X100 this year) are a Bentley Continental GT, Aston Martin DB9 or Maserati Granturismo; with Aston the most preferred. I'm not necessarily an anglophile but I like the cars, the general attitudes that self service is fine if you have good records, the general ease of repair (less with the bentley vs aston but still doable), and general interactions with owners and non-owners.
