Default 205,000 miles daily driver

As further proof that the old myth that Jaguars are unreliable my 2007 XK just hit 205,000 miles and still purring like the pretty cat she was on day one. Never had any major mechanical or transmission problems. Just meticulously followed factory maintenance schedule and had all services performed at authorized dealer. Car has won 1st or 2nd place at annual JCCNA concor d elegance.

Michael D,

I'm very impressed, especially if you're the original owner. I presume it's a coupe because you would have replaced a convertible top by now. Without revealing your exact location, would you tell us more about where in New Jersey? Northern, Southern, Shore? County would be a big help to understand why no bent rims from potholes, parking dings, vandalism damage, or theft.

Ask me how I know. All those things happened to me when I lived in NJ. I still miss the pizza!

Stuart

It’s a convertible. Yes top was replaced for wear also new generator and thermostat and just last week water pump, radiator hoses and serpentine belt. Replaced spark plugs at 100,000 and 200,000.

Congratulations on your great X150 experience. I took the picture below, yesterday of the odometer in my 2010 XKR. Countdown to 200,000 miles in the next couple of weeks. And what a great time I've had with every mile. This car will never leave my ownership! Still my daily driver, been tracked many dozens of times over my 10+ years of ownership, supremely reliable, and still looks great and drives wonderfully. What a car!

200,000 countdown

still as beautiful as it was when I bought it over 10 years ago.

Nice to read something besides gloom & doom, I guess Jag owners don't come on here if they are not experiencing problems, Thank again.
Gives me hope, my 2010 XK is just shy of 60K.

jbmi,
Your car's just a baby. When I bought mine locally ten years ago, it had 68,000 miles. Next week I'll take a picture when the odometer gets to 200,000. You'll get many more years of great ownership, with many more miles and smiles.

All the jags I’ve had have been flawless. Ted, curious about how many times you’ve replaced majors parts on your 2010 with the 5.0 litre? My 2015 Land Rover with the same but updated engine as yours is nearly at 160k miles and still looks new in and out, but I’m on third replacements now for so many things in the engine. (If it’s not obvious, I’m meticulous and fastidious when it come to care and maintenance).

Jahummer
I think I've replaced 4 water pumps if I'm not mistaken (1 only lasted less than a month). There have been some sensors which I don't recall. Twice I've had fuel injector banks replaced and actually today had number 2 and number 7 injectors replaced as well. Over the past couple of months, I've been getting dash warnings followed by CEL about the gas cap being loose. I replaced the cap but still get the warnings, and since I need a smog check to get my new registration for which we have to clear the CEL and drive approximately 200 miles, we are replacing the evap pump. To do so, requires the removal of a lot of parts including the differential. Today, in removing the differential I received a call from my mechanic that despite having changed the fluid very recently, it was quite dirty and that the differential potentially had some damage. Since there is so much labor involved, we have chosen to replace the differential with a used one from a low mileage car while it was removed anyway. I, honestly, don't remember too many other engine issues or replacements. I have had an occasional CEL regarding an atmospheric pressure sensor, but it usually has cleared itself and has gone long periods without reappearing. Probably the most annoying thing has been the bluetooth module replacements and still the inability to connect.

170k and still purring. The 4.2 is a modest v8 but it was built to handle a SuperCharger so its tough. Just gotta spend some money on it once in a while
