5.0 N/A "ticking" cold startup

Hey everyone...
My XK does not get driven daily... sits for most of the week. Oil level was checked ok on the dash. On cold startup, I am hearing a ticking noise that goes away after the car warms up. I'm guessing this is just the oil needing to circulate, but with the car under warranty for 1500 more miles, should I take it in? Anything else I can look at?

SeanU,
The ticking noise is probably caused by the fuel injectors and/or one or more valves out of adjustment. Have your dealer diagnose and repair it before your warranty expires. See: http:// https://www.jaguarforums.com...get-rid-89466/
Back in the day, American cars with pushrods and hydraulic valve lifters often made ticking noises when first started due to "bleedback" of motor oil that had drained out of the lifters. That noise usually went away in a few seconds, after the lifters refilled with oil. If not, a lifter was clogged and would need to be cleaned or replaced. The DOHC Jaguar engines don't use pushrods and hydraulic valve lifters. Similar noises but different causes.
If this was helpful, please press Thanks on the bottom right.

I got this tick tick tick tick as well... i just posted a new thread on it.... After 3-4 min of driving you can stop the car, get out, listen to it in idle and the tick is gone. Its pretty loud on cold startup and you know it is not normal..... the car functions fine and no dummy lights. Is it detrimental to the car?!? Thanks

Where are you guys parking your cars? Sounds like someone may have planted a bomb in your engine. If it goes boom than you know it was a bomb.
Seriously, I would have it checked out as soon as you can. I don't recall my engine making any ticking sounds, but I will listen for the ticking next time I start it and report. If you don't hear from me you'll know it went boom.
