Do you mean the price of a tune?

Along with a pulley, exhaust and tune, you could always add water/meth injection. It'll give you a bit more bang. water/meth will also clean the intake valves.

let's say you find a shop that knows what they're doing. IF they do what's listed above, somebody ballpark the HP gains and the $$ costs to get there.....at this step.

EDIT: Here's one...

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...cat%92-211568/

EDIT EDIT: Even JLR said they would offer a factory tune of 700HP.... But there's several bespoke tuners with one available
It's a different ECU vs x150 (Bosch vs Denso). Not to say impossible, but this very example is probably not the best

Around five grand, biggest variable could be exhaust, steel vs different grades of stainless vs titanium, custom shop less than a grand, off the shelf up to two grand or more. Approx 25-50 HP gains, more if you’ve a bespoke tuner. Meth injection won’t do anything for power without a bespoke tune and other mods. It will help with heat soak and IATs if you track the car.

Avos has taken his X100 XKR to around 700bhp so you could have a chat with him:

Yes, can be done with to X150 with twin screw, larger capacity blower and a tune (the first gen X150 Eaton M112's crippled by its small volume and inefficiency). The Denso ECU's still a challenge though, with the PanPAG ECU fitted to theX100 much easier tables to modify.

VAP has an E85 tune for the 3 litre... ups the HP to 553...maybe a similar tune could used on the 5 L?

The OP has a 4.2. From what I hear they offer nice 5.0 litre tunes…..

My experience with them was a very expensive disaster.

I wasn't suggesting VAP but rather that either Cambo/Alex/etc could also see @ 15~20% gain in hp, by writing an efficient E85 set of maps.

E85 would likely require replacing fuel injectors, adding a return line from the rail and an upgrade to the fuel pump. But yes it can be done.

Easy breezy 500 hp range , 600 is also achievable depending on your risk tolerance
We can do just the tune for significant bump in power, also have other modifications like a lower temperature thermostat , cooling fan programming, larger throttle body, Intake system And maybe other stuff I'm forgetting.
Just the tune by itself on a stock car will transform the car I kid you not, especially with the torque.
Feel free to pm me..
A lot more racing videos on my channel so just a teaser

My take on this.
To achieve that power, it can be done but you will have to chase every HP
Its just my take.
Port or Bore Supercharger Intake.
Bigger Throttle body and bore the neck out. 4.2 throttle 75mm 5.0 84mm. This makes a difference. trust me.
intake sleeves are 3" try to up grade to 4" more air more power.
Some say get the k&N filters some say cone. its your decision. Me cone. Only my opinion.
Pulley Supercharger.
Some say the Crank Pulley. I didn't change mine. Again HP chasing.
100 cell cats. This makes a big difference. less restrictive. 3" exhaust pipes will give yo extra also.
Heads. I Had mine done. My not make a difference but for my car its was a big diff.
Differential. I didn't get mine done. I have heard it make big difference.
Throttle Controller. Cee Jay says it doesn't matter. Im N/A but I had mustang with supercharger.
All blowers take a while.
I Have personally took a Few Rs and other from the light. Street racing.
Custom Tune. After all that modification a straight out the box tune will not work. You will need a custom tune and someone thats good with air fuel ratio.
Problem that I'm having and I know other also is transmission. The New Zf Transmission are 8 speed. Thats more than 50% of your power. I would love to have this discussion.
Probably if you can swap trans to ZF with 8 speed and get real HPs.
BMW M series guys are doing it and having good results.

. Ultra efficient F1 cars use “ paper “ filters. Not paper actually, but not an oiled medium either.
The marketing about “boosting HP” with a filter… who is that gullible to believe it.

In the ol days, we used to put women’s nylons over the intake. It kept out the bugs on the country side race track. I wouldn’t be doing that with this engine…. 2 stroke oil in the gas too, lol.

priv what did you get done to the heads ?

Also with the zf8hp amongst the electrical nightmare to get it up and running our bellhousing is different on the 4.2

Yep we use paper filters only even when developing aftermarket cone air filter Intake on the xkr. By oversizing air filter area you get more flow , no reason to sacrifice filtration and potential MAF sensor issues.
