I own the exact same car and like it very much. Make sure the rear window seal in the top is in good condition. Make sure there is no evidence of condensate leak from A/C at passenger foot area. These are common problems. Also check the stitching on the leather dash.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Regarding A/C Leak, should i just turn ON AC at full blast and drive the car for few minutes and then check carpet is wet?
I'm compiling a check list so i can use it this friday when i get to drive the car to the shop for inspection.
i dont have the car but im already researching the mods i want to do to the car: get led or chrome turn signal bulbs,( cant stand orange in headlights), remote top, Bluetooth adapter to stream music from my iphone. any other recommendations?

Thank you for the tips, im compiling a check list to be ready for Friday when I see the car .
How can I check A/C Leak? turn A/C on at full blast and check carpet on passenger side?
Also what mods would you recommend? I'm planing on getting led or chrome turn bulbs because i cant stand orange in headlights, remote top and Bluetooth adapter to stream music from iphone

I just found 2011 XKR with almost the same milage, and only 2k more in price, Would that be a better deal? I know that 2011 got updated interior, and 510hp engine.

My concerns from the CarFax report:
1. Was the "minor front end" collision damage properly repaired?
2. No evidence that the water pump was replaced. It's a known defect.
3. Not always serviced by a Jaguar dealer, so it's doubtful it has the proper engine oil.
4. What did the CarFax omit?
This XKR has been in Florida, Texas and Illinois. Check for sun/heat damage to leather dashboard, etc. and underbody corrosion from salt on winter roads.
Used car dealers are like magicians, and can make flaws and damage disappear right before your eyes!
Sold at auction, so it's unlikely that any service or repair records are available. As always, buyer beware - so do your due diligence and level the playing field. Pay a Jaguar dealer for a pre-purchase inspection and a Jaguar-authorized body shop for a collision/paint repair inspection. Their findings can help you negotiate a lower price, often by more than the cost of those inspections.

Okay, we're sub-$30k and 50k+ mileage here on a 7+ year old car. In seven years there are bound to be inconsistencies with 100% "proper" dealer-only-everything.
The accident damage may be something to check on, because what does "minor" actually mean? Scrapes on the plastic bumper? Crushing blow up to the radiator support???
The dash around the center speaker is a known problem, but not always.
Again, sub-30k, 50k+ and over 7 years...... if you like it, buy it. It's not like it's rocket surgery.

You are right Sir!, it is very hard to find an XKR in chicago area ,especially from private seller.
I just came back from the test drive, i spent almost 2 hours with the car, and could not find anything wrong with the car. I checked radiator mounts and they are intact. nothing was replaced but front bumper.
I also like that car comes with ventilated seat, wind deflector. tinted windows, 2 sets of keys. the portfolio edition i was originally looking at didn't have any of those . I wish that it would have black interior as it has very dark brown but it is so dark it really hard to noticed it is not black

the only thing i didnt like was chrome hood vents, they were awful i would like to swap them with original ones, and also swap black side vents with chrome ones.
What are main differences between 2008 and 2011 XKR, other than Engine, taillights, different gear selector? is the navigation system upgraded?
i will take both xkrs to get inspected, and then decide which one i will buy, but i think for extra $2k 2011 is better choice, opinions/

You've covered the differences and, sorry, the nav system is the same with a newer disc. The 5.0 engine is definitely worth the extra scratch though. I have both engines and the newer one gets used much more.

If it were me, and I had to buy a black cat, it would be the '11.
For $2k, you're getting a lot more car, HP wise.
I also like the wheels on the '11 better, and I'm not a fan of the spun aluminum interior trim on the '08. It's a Jag, I would want wood (but that's just me).
The '11 has the updated taillights (but loses the front fogs), and just has a 'newer' look to it.
The '11 doesn't have the cool Alcon brakes, but it will be cheaper in the long run to maintain.

What those two guys said ^^^^^^^^
Also, chrome is easy to wrap or paint.
Cool Alcons are more expensive to service, and only slightly better than the "Upgraded Brake Package". Once there is enough clamping force to stop rotation, brakes don't matter except for Heat/Fade. 2/4/6 piston.... six sounds cool but does it WORK that much better?
Newer alone says 2011.
Power alone says 2011.
Updated exterior says 2011.
Individual merit..... only you can choose.

e-Diff
Better gearbox including additional clutch plates and uprated torque converter.
Dynamic mode on the gearbox sharpens and stiffens everything up and also opens the exhaust valve permanently.
Variable adaptive dampers rather than just soft or firm.

I was scheduled to take 2008 XKR for inspection but i switched around and too 2011, car checked out really good, bumper needs to be repainted if i want it to make it perfect.
front control arm's rubber pieces are worn off and also rear sway bar links and toe links needs to be replaced, other than that and body needs to be buffed off as it has many imperfections car is in pretty good shape
tried to negotiate lower price but sales dude didn't want to give me anything more than $500 off....
I'm falling for this car, acceleration is brutal to the point im little afraid of flooring the gas pedal lol
thanks for all tips and opinions it is helping a lot

Well, I too have the same model. It just so happened, I purchased mine from a Chicago dealer in the winter of 2014. As "carlprs" mentioned, those are the three naughty issues these very cool rides suffer from long term. Thus far, with 44K on my ODO, I have not yet been visited by the three Amigos, "leaky evap (clogged duckbill), "dash separation", and "rear CVT window glass separation". BTW, I had a 3rd party inspection performed prior to purchase. It did have a cracked rim, but, the dealer reimbursed me for 4 new wheels.
