Accessing battery with top down- battery dead
Edit: found the loop that release the tonneau...never mind. It was basically a dead battery and not a loose terminal. Charging is on and I am seeing lights come on in the car. Whew! I thought something else that was a bigger problem was the contributor.
Guys,
Need help. My '07 XK has suffered from intermittent power failures. Basically the whole car goes 'dead' when this happens. I narrowed this down previously to the battery terminal being loose.
I just had the same problem yesterday. The trouble is that I can't access the battery since the convertible top is down. I used an Allen key to depressurise the convertible top's hydraulic pump but I can't seem to remember how to raise the tonneau cover so that I can manually raise the top and get into the battery compartment.
Can any of you help? This isn't covered in the manual.
Thanks!

Above and perhaps behind the hydraulic pump and reservoir there is a cable with a loop. Pull the loop to unlatch the tonneau. It will probably take a second person to raise the tonneau while the other one pulls the cable. Be aware, with the pressure released from the hydraulic system, there is nothing to hold the tonneau in the open position, don't let it fall.

Disregarding all the Top Up/Top Down/Release Tonneau.....
The small plastic grill inside the boot where you'd think the left-hand light access would be is a Positive Battery post connected to the floor, under a rubber boot. You can use this to charge your battery when you hook the negative lead to the bolt in the spare wheel area. The positive post also is semi-accessible from beneath the car for when you can't access the boot.
