adaptive front lighting issue

Be careful ordering a replacement. SDD has a routine for installing a new module (software and VIN, etc), but not clear if it can rewrite a used one. Also, a bunch of used ones out there advertised for X150's, but actually can only fit in the X100.

Barry, the AFS module is at the base of the A pillar on the passenger side, so logical that a flaky connection could be the problem and temporarily fixed by slamming the passenger door. You can pull back the carpet and A pillar plastic, and reseat the connector as a possible fix. Tight fit for the hands, tho.

Is it possible to just disable the AFS flashing yellow warning light in the dash by using software diagnostics? I put a set of 2008 non AFS headlights in when I did my salvage rebuild(which was a 2007 speced with AFS. The headlights work fine but I was hoping to be able to turn off the nagging yellow monster without having to put a piece of tape in front of it!

You can change the vehicle CCF from with AFS to without AFS but I’ve not tried it to see what would happen. Since the module is still in the canbus network it may still cause errors.
I tried something similar with another module and even with changing it to not fitted I still had errors on the canbus network.

I'm going to end up opening both my headlights for a re-wire (2011 XKR). My car previously had a no communication error with AFS and now with a new module in place these are the error codes, indicating problems inside each headlight assembly.
I pulled the driver's side (L) assembly a couple weeks ago for a tab repair and the wiring insulation looked plenty crusty through the inspection port, enough that I'm gonna bite the bullet and re-wire each assembly. At least it'll also give me a chance to clean the projectors a bit, they've definitely gotten hazy with time.
Driver's side headlight fault
Passenger side headlight fault
At least the car looks good while the lights suck, need to do a full lens restore too once I sort the wiring out
