Adaptive headlight question - control module

Adaptive headlight question - control module
Is it true that both the right side and left side headlights use the same module?
Can someone with a 2010-2012 XKR snap a photo of their left side headlight module? It's easily viable from the back of the headlight with the hood open.
My car has the annoying yellow adaptive headlight error blinking away on my dashboard and the left side headlight is not moving.
I pulled the left headlight and found the wires to all be in good condition, but it looks like the previous owner installed the wrong module (a silver module) perhaps in an attempt to fix the problem?
The working (right side headlight) has a black module with a different part number (see photo). (5DF 009 368-70 AA / 5h32-10k974-RB)
Does the left side use this same part number?

Part numbers for the overall headlamp assembly were switched at VIN 38317 which was during MY 2010. Not 100% sure but it would be a decent guess that the control module switched from silver to black at this time. Your (OP’s) VIN from your C&B listing is before this number, indicating an early 2010 car. It is possible (sheer speculation) that the left side headlamp with the silver module is the original, while the right side headlamp with the black module was a replacement part installed at some point.
Lots of good information on the forum on how to troubleshoot - e.g. by swapping modules left to right and seeing if the defect goes with the module or not. If the latter, it may be something else with the left headlamp.
Good luck! It’s an annoying issue, to be sure.

Do you know if both part numbers are interchangable for the assemblies? I need a passenger adaptive headlamp assembly and it would be great if I could use the later part number on my early 2010.

Check the ground lugs on the right side behind the wheel strut on the chassis -- they suffer from corrosion and cause problems with the left side adaptive system.
See my thread re-corrosion of ground lugs:

You may find that the dash light (which is incredibly irritating!) is due to a faulty AFS module. This sits at the front of the RH footwelll behind trim and the subwoofer panel. I believe the modules plugged in to the back of each headlight are power modules. Here is how I replaced mine:
