So, I've discovered that the Active Damping Control Module (which also controls the Electronic Active Diff) and ABS module (which also handles Dynamic Stability Control) on the XKR-S have different software and/or maps from the modules on my 75, though the hardware is the same. The Adaptive Dynamics settings were tweaked for the later car, and a bespoke software tune was created for EAD and DSC. Considered opinion from someone who knows is that the 75 would benefit from running the later software/maps.

Problem is, I haven't found anyone that can reprogram these units. Ideally, I'd like to download the software images and data from an R-S and flash that into my modules. It appears dealers may be able to flash the modules, but they (obviously) are unlikely to play along. I've spoken to a couple of aftermarket tuners, but they only deal with the ECU and its maps.

Does anyone out there know of a company that can do this stuff?

 

Tell the dealer you're experiencing some intermittent weird behaviour with your ABS brakes and e-diff and you'll like to have your ADCM and associated modules re-flashed. Let them know you'll like to see the technician and give him a VIN from an R-S to reference as the software update. If the technician questions you, give him $100. Get him also to re-flash your ECU if he can to boost your power to 550 hp. Getting to know your technicians and dealer service center can be helpful.

 

I don't really rate my local dealer - they're constantly telling me I need a service when I don't. And I don't think they're likely to play ball. Dealers in the UK are a bit nervous about skirting the rules; comes of being close to the mother ship, I guess.

I'll have a chat with my indy specialist - they might have the right tools. If they do, I'll find a local R-S owner that can help with a brain transplant…

 

Probably IDS/SDD and a Mongoose JLR will do it - these are quite cheap to buy if you look, then it's DIY.

 

Can one flash the ECU this way to get an XKR-S tune if they have an XKR-S VIN?
