Advantages of the 4.2 engine over the 5.0?

Corvette owner in question was having issue with traction, even with using launch control , ps4 s tires and with mid rear engine , didn't help him much . His best time of the night was 8.1 . I was running slower than usual as well, was hitting 8.2 most of the night where on other tracks I can easily be at 8.0

I did a 1.78 60 foot when I did my 126 mph terminal speed and my best ever is 1.756 but they are usually high 1.8s or low 1.9's.
I would love to try drag radials on mine to improve on that but it is not worth getting a second set of wheels and tyres and I also don't want to break something!
My wife's old Audi S4 was at the track last time I was there with some serious upgrades done to it and the guy who owns it now broke the prop shaft and diff on his last run so went home on a flat bed![Frown](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif)

If you can hit 1.78 60 ft on street tires you are doing very very good.
Jagtoes I will post more videos from inside of my camera angle vs the Corvette, we probably raced four, five times. I talked to the owner and he said that he was trying everything including launch control.

Ive had multiple 4.2 engines with over 100,00 and zero issues. Ive also had 5.0 and 3.0 spin bearings after 70k. Not to mention water pumps and bad plastic hoses on both 3.0 and 5.0.
they are great while running however dont count on long term reliability even with OCD maintenance… they are seriously flawed engines
just search the threads here for numerous failed 3.9 and 5.0 engines.

Indeed the discussion is very much oriented on the engine; I wrote in another post that I had to proceed to a partial rebuild of my 4.2 liters for 4000 euros... no engine is immune to problems!
This is not the case in the USA but in France with 412 HP we are at the top of the predator scale! So much so that I rarely use the vehicle's power, the torque and the engine's pleasure are enough for me.
Last detail that our American friends cannot imagine, the taxes! To register a used car, the difference between a 31 hp XKR and a 42 hp XKR, the first one from 2007 and the second one from 2012 is 1400 euros... I think I remember that in Montana there is no VAT... Happy men...

The US have one time (per sale) state sales tax, county sales tax and on some cases gas guzzler taxes, on the sale price of the vehicle, néw or used regardless of age and based on the registration location. In Florida it is 6%, so $600 per $10k of the final invoice. Montana does not have sales tax, which makes it attractive to those with super cars and the like to process the sales transaction and registration of the vehicle license in that state.
Annual registration renewal tax in this state however are indeed extremely minor, usually less than $100.

For initial purchase, my state at least uses sales tax of 6% on the reported purchase price. Then msrp based (with reduction over 3 tiers to make it more complicated lol) for renewal from then on. Tax has nothing to do with engine displacement, horsepower, etc; just value.

Here's an example of legal corruption:

His salary is $161,000, and his office earns separate fees for processing property tax bills for various cities in Fulton County (Atlanta), including Brookhaven, Sandy Springs, and Johns Creek. He pockets most of those fees, which more than doubles his salary, due to a quirk in Georgia law that should have been corrected years ago by the Georgia Legislature. That fee revenue was earned by the employees who did the work, who should benefit more than he does. It's legal, but wrong.
