Gooday. The 2010 model had the 5 litre, and the vertical inlets in the front bumper. The whole front bumper is different to the 4.2 version, but the most noticeable thing is the inlets. From late 2011 the bumper changed again and the new headlight (LED, different shape altogether) came in, with the Aston style side vents as well.
I have the 2010 shape. The 2012 shape is nicer, IMO, not that I am complaining, they are both beautiful cars.

Essentially 2010 and 2011 are the same car. Headlight shape and side vents changed for MY 2012. The Aston sytle side vents that were mentioned in the post above are not exclusive to Aston, but virtually every other car on the road including BMW, Ford (including the lowest models in the lineup), Chevy, everything .....it is an automotive cliche that I detest. I preferred the little vent "doors" that tied it to a longstanding Jaguar tradition seen on many historic and current models.
Don't worry about the differences between '10 and '11, find the best preserved, lowest mileage, best priced, color combination you desire, with a good service history that you can afford.

As others mentioned the 2010 and 2011 are the same car. These had the 5.0L engine and the rotary (hockey puck) shifter along with some body updates . The last style changes were made in 2012 with new headlight assemblies with LED DRL's and horizontal side vents. Also LED tail lights and a rear camera system. There were some options differences but other then that the 2012 to 2015 (end of production ) were basically the same car. It would be a personal choice on which year you buy and also how much you want to spend. You still need to consider other questions like the Portfolio version or the 175 version , or XK , XKR or XKR-S. Then there is coupe vs convertible and other options. My choice was XKR , convert. , rear camera and LED's which made my search for a 2012. Good luck on the hunt.

I don't know whether it would make a difference to you but according to the 2011MY US press release a 5 year/50,000 mile warranty was introduced that year so that should still be in force and, I think, eligible for a manufacture backed extension.
There are a few interior trim option differences between the two model years, different veneers, exterior paint colours plus the Speed and Black packs were introduced in the 2011MY.

Thanks Appreciate all the great advice as well as clarification on the difference between the two model years. Have driven the base model and now looking at an R.
