AFS ECU (Headlamp control module) Replacement
I just did this job today on my 2008 XKR. There are not many specifics in the archives about this so I thought I'd post about it. The relevant code is U3000-49.
The AFS module is in the RH footwell. The manual details the removal fairly well but here is what I did:
1. Remove the blower motor by removing the 3 torx screws holding it in place (make sure to not disconnect or kink the condensate drains while doing this!)
2. Remove the lower right hand trim panel and begin pulling back the carpet.
3. This will expose the subwoofer cover - it is held in place by 4 10mm setscrews. Once this is loose it can be shifted out of the way so you can get to the module.
4. Remove the two 7mm setscrews holding the module in place
5. Disconnect the plug by pushing in a white tab on the bottom of the plug and swinging the little black arm rightward. This releases the module.
I contemplated trying to do this without removing the blower motor or subwoofer plate and quickly realized that it would be almost impossible. Its a somewhat tedious job but doable.
My original module had a 2007 manufacture date but the one I got off of Ebay had a 2006 date. The plastic plug was slightly different and I modified it slightly with a dremel tool. Then re installed and ziptied the plug on for good measure.
Upon restarting the car the annoying flashing light on the dash was gone.
Hope this helps someone in the future.

I have an issue with both my headlights not raising to the level that they should and a blinking warning light on the dash that won't go off. I'm going to proceed by changing out this module first. Do you know if the 2008 XKR can only use a module with this exact part number? I have a module that has the same numbers as the one you pictured. I see some others on eBay with slightly different numbers that say they are for my model year. Thanks

My understanding is that a module from a 2007, 2008 or 2009 car will work. I do not believe that the exact part number is critical though I could be wrong.
