Alarm chirp stopped working

The chirp on the second press of fob or door button confirms the deadlocks engaging - at least on my car. There's no chirp on the initial locking. But my understanding is that NA cars don't have deadlocking and the car should double-chirp if you try to engage them.
I suppose the 'chirper' may have died. If you try locking the car with a door ajar or a fob left inside, do you hear the double chirp then?

European models have double locking. The beep on the second push is to remind you to make sure you didn't leave your kid in the car.

Note that the OP, Wm. Lyon, is in Southern California USA. The reply posted by @justinhill, who is in Surrey, England, does not apply to North American market vehicles because the double-lock feature has been disabled here. ![Icon Doh](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_doh.gif)

I am in the UK and my car doesn’t chirp as it’s turned off and never has chirped. I think I would need to change it in SDD if I wanted it to sound.
My sounder went faulty last year as at times it would sound like a Geiger Counter. There has been posts that a faulty sounder can run the battery down.
It sits under the bonnet/hood catch on the right hand side. A bit fiddly to change but very doable.
Its a Ford part and I changed mine for new one for Ford Fiesta that I found on EBay for £20
where it’s situated it’s under the windscreen and gets a lot of the rain run off from the screen etc.
This has definitely been posted about on here and the change procedure explained
